I briefly caught DR Dakota on Facebook.  She doesn’t like using the computer at her mother’s, plus she will be leaving her computer there until the flood danger has passed.

From TCB:
Quote
Good evening!  I just got home from my first rehearsal for GUYS AND DOLLS.  Everything went smoothly on the drive up and at rehearsal, but suddenly as I was driving home, it hit me like a ton of bricks...

I'M DOING A SHOW IN SEATTLE!!!!!!!!!!!

It has been over ten years since I last worked in Seattle.  And I guess I am a little more pumped than I realized.

Big weight off my back: I just (hopefully) closed my dad's estate.

Oh DR elmore3003, I am so pleased for you!  No need to deal with the Macbeths ever again?   :)
Yes, Larry.  Congratulations!  I look forward to the day when I no longer have to deal with The Little Foxes over my mother's house.

Preorders start right now - you know the drill - $19.98 plus $3.75 shipping to kritzerland at adelphia dot net via paypal.com.  Given the dealer preorders, this one should go pretty quickly - and again, you have the BK stamp of approval that this is something you will LOVE!

TWO FOR THE SEESAW – THE CLASSIC ANDRE PREVIN SCORE MAKES ITS CD DEBUT!

996 copies left.  I just sent my order. :)

Well, my trip to the library alerted me to a great new exhibit on Women Designers for the Stage, beginning with the original costumer for BABES IN TOYLAND and THE WIZARD OF OZ, Caroline Siedle, but I'm still not finding enough info on prostitution backstage and chorus girls' salaries in 1903. The best info comes from Irving Berlin's song, "How Do You Do It Mabel?" from 1911:
[1st verse:]
Mabel Brown came to town
All dress'd up in her gingham gown
And a ribbon in her hair
In her eyes a vacant stare
Joined a show, wrote her beau
Mabel wanted to let him know
She was earning, so to speak
Twenty dollars a week
Her beau came down to New York town
To see his Mabel dear
The minute that he saw her flat
He whispered in her ear

[chorus:]
How do you do it, Mabel, on twenty dollars a week?
Tell us how you are able on twenty dollars a week
A fancy flat and a diamond bar
Twenty hats and a motor car
Go right to it but how do you do it
On twenty dollars a week?

As Guy Bolton wrote in his bio: "Chorus girls get minks the way minks get minks."

DR Elmore - congratulations on closing the estate.  Does this mean that the property on 122 has sold?

Since I didn't have any leftover recorded shows on the DVR to watch, I went to the HD Showcase on my cable box and found the season three premiere for THE TUDORS there as an advanced teaser to get folks to subscribe to the service.

Though the series is still based on the facts of the reign of Henry VIII, artistic license is certainly being taken by having Jonathan Rhys-Myers looking still so young and relatively slim. They showed his leg in really bad shape, but otherwise he seems the picture of health and virility.

I enjoyed the first episode quite a bit. Rebellion in the north over the monastery burnings, etc. And a couple of gorgeous new men who have joined the court.

Then I sat down with my work project for the day - NO COUNTRY FOR OLD MEN. Even though I just watched this a year ago to review it, it still had me riveted from beginning to end. Really enjoyed seeing it again.

I haven't had time yet to do an A/B comparisons with last year's Blu-ray, but I will get to that this evening.

I began watching the new bonux features. There was one tongue-in-cheek "documentary" by Josh Brolin in which he subtly suggests the Coens are demons in disguise. That only ran about 9 minutes.

Then there begins a long series of interviews from late October through the Oscars as various members of the team sit down for interviews. I got four of them watched. There are many, many others to get to this evening.

I got a nice surprise when I got home this afternoon.

I filed my state income tax in February. Because I filed on paper it took this long to have it deposited in my savings account. The refund posted today and also today I received a letter from the state saying they had adjusted my refund amount. When I looked at their letter and the tax form I filed I realize that I transposed two numbers resulting in over $200 more in my refund. Now I can buy that house in Dublin ;)

And let's get serious, shall we?  THREE pages?  This is really beginning to irk me and you do NOT want an irked me.  Not only that, the fact that a brilliantly brilliant CD like Two For The Seesaw has only gotten interest from FIVE people on this here site (the number just keeps going down and down, and I think from now on that those five people, who have ordered everything, will be the only ones who get the advance notice because frankly I just don't get it).  End of irked post.

Well, technically my order may have come in as an order for ANYA, but there's a note saying it's for SEESAW.

I guess I need to head down now and continue with all of those bonus interviews on NO COUNTRY FOR OLD MEN. There isn't that much of TV for me tonight though LOST and LIFE ON MARS will likely be watched "live."
