What lies in the shadow of the statue?

Nikki and Paolo is my guess.  ;)

Funny!

Best of vibes to DR JOSE on his hoi polloi opening night!

Merci buckets, DR JRand.  Tonight should be fun.  I just hope they laugh.  Of course, the pre-show wine reception will either make them very receptive or very sleepy.  We shall see.

*And then there's the post-show reception which will have a show-themed buffet. Apparently, it will be a mix of NY Deli food and German treats.  Hmm...

Does it include many different herring?

Well, I feel like I'm starting to get a cold and I can't seem to stay awake, so I'm going home.  I need to take out my contacts and take a nap.

Until later!

Here's a walk down memory lane for some of us!

One of our TV stations used to sign on (around 11 a.m.) with this.  This was in the "olden days" when "some" TV stations didn't broadcast 24-7.  Some were on air only 11 a.m to midnight in those "yonder years."

Sounds like the Mitch Miller Singers (all of that ILLYA reverb going on.)

There's another question:  what happened to all of those spiders with the death-like state bite?  Not one other castaway was ever bitten?

DR elmore - As per that "blind item"... Hmmm... There are a couple of "candidates" in the cast of Hair.  I may have to do some investigatin'.

Supposedly, it's Will Swenson and Audra MacDonald.

Oy, such a long day I've had! I've done my Toyland research, my McGlinn estate obligations, and then I attended the readng of a new musical SHOOTING STAR: THE BOBBY DRISCOLL STORY, which was quite wonderful, book, music and lyrics by Michael Dansicker. The role of Driscoll was divided between a child, Matthew Gumley, who was amazing, and Mark Price, who was quite wonderful. Dee Hoty had an amazing comedy star turn as Frances Farmer, who had an hilarious duet with Mark Price about narcotics, liquor, and Hollywood. A very sad show, but there were many funny moments.

Ask BK:
Okay, I know that YESTERDAY was Ask BK day, but I've gotten behind on my notes-reading again, and just finished reading the draft-dodging story. And now I'm completely stymied as to what the heck a "box-folding question" is. I called Mark on the phone and asked him and we couldn't figure out if it's an origami exercise where you have to fold paper into boxes, or if it's some kind of a multiple choice thing. Help!

I don't know if rootbeer barrels are my favorite, but they are a most enjoyable candy. They're just so much fun because they're actually shaped like barrels with the lines and everything. Anyway, Mark loves to tell me that all the gem stones in my jewelry just look like Sucrets to him.

Coming to HHW almost everyday is always a joy, yes even when we have a little disagreement now and then but I just can't help feeling sad and helpless when I read the pains DR Vixmom is going through and I know we all deeply hurt right now!

That's all I can say now!

I just spoke to vixdad.  Debby had her gall bladder out at about 15:00 EDT.  She is feeling good, sitting up, talking, planning to call me later.  He is now going to take the vixter out to a diner for a bite to eat.  She is evidently remaining in the hospital for another day or so.

Strange ITunes moment; i was in the mood for some Connie Francis, so I revved up her MGM album HAPPINESS, and to my surprise and delight she was singing "Illya Darling."  It's a great little recording!

Vibes for Vixmom!

My dental day continued:  since I have only had novocaine a couple of times in my life, I am completely unused to the sensation and realized too late that I had half-chewed off the inside of my lower lip whilst eating a little lunch today.  I resemble the loser of a fist fight.  ;)

The New Theatre in New York City no longer exists. It's where Oh Coward opened on October 4, 1972 with Barbara Cason, Roderick Cook and Jamie Ross.

Greetings from the Apple Store in downtown Palo Alto, CA.  My pal, Cathleen (the horn player) and I had some dinner after I set up the pit and are now heading back to the theatre for the sing through.  I'm down the 'cello and the "harp" tonight, so it looks like I'll be playing "piano" instead of filling in other brass and double reeds.  But at least we'll get some time with the cast and orchestra before next Tuesday.

I saw Next to Normal when it played at Second Stage. I loved it then (it had some problems but it was still powerful and moving). I wasn't planning on seeing it before it opened because I had already seen it AND because I just finished my marathon.

But, those devils worked on the show for the Arena Stage production. When it got back to New York it was on TDF all the time. It opened last night to some great reviews. Now the TDF tickets are no longer. It will probably be on TKTS but I was hoping for a TDF ticket. I do want to see it again since I hear the changes really helped the show. Alice Ripley was amazing Off-Broadway and based on these reviews I'm sure she will at least get a Tony nomination if not the actual trophy. I hope to see it again before the Tonys in June.

Ginny, I hope to Blithely walk to the Post Office tomorrow and put a Spirited little prize in the mailbox to a town in mid-South Ohio. Perhaps it will find its way to you  :D

Larry, all you need to do is wait until Saturday. Helen Mirren and Noel Coward on the same night!
