THE SOUND OF MUSIC
« on: April 26, 2009, 12:02:45 AM »

Well, you've read the notes, the notes had both sound and music and a touch of Charmy, and now it is time for you to post until the cows come home - they're currently singing The Sound Of Moosic.

I've listened to Evening Primrose at least once a week since I got it.

Jose - The very real "Angie" theme was sung by Maureen McGovern and made it into the Top 20 back in 1979.    ANGIE did debut within a month of the opening of SWEENEY TODD on Broadway, making the "love it seeks, love it finds"/"Lovett" word-sound connection a source of interest (to me anyway!). :)   Obviously, it's a coincidence, but "Love it seeks" is after all  an unusual, distinctive construction.

Futher hmmmm: per imdb, ANGIE premiered Feb 8, 1979

Per ibdb, SWEENEY TODD started previews Feb 6, 1979

Charmian Carr - when we were doing THE SOUND OF MUSIC a few seasons ago, I bought her book "Always Liesl" for the lobby display.  After the show, I read the book, and it really is a nice memoir.  She seems like a nice lady, and the way she and MR BK met is MOST interesting!!

Charmian's sister also auditioned for TSOM - and in fact talked Charmian into going to the audition.  Her sister also did some singing on the soundtrack - she may have done Kurt's high note in "So Long, Farewell" - and Charmian was a bit non-plussed when she AND her sister would get the same royalty check for the album.

And so for my TOD - I will ask - what was your first reaction to Christopher Plummer's outre performance as Captain Von Trapp in THE SOUND OF MUSIC?  Your FIRST reaction......

Thanks to DRs George, Daw, Sam, FJL and Jrand!

So far the weekend has not been that good. I know material goods are not that important. But on Friday I had put this beautiful silky flower on my purple Guess purse. And when i came home it was gone. I tried to retrace my steps (only went one place). But could not find it. :(

Then i had a big fight with a family member.

But so far today is okay. Last night my niece slept over and did something so funny.

For some reason she decided to put one of my pillows on top of her body. I had my eyes closed and hear her saying, "oh how comfy".

No big deal.

Then i hear her say, "oh auntie it's like a sleeping bag". And i look over and she has put her whole body inside the pillow case (with pillow in it)! :)

And thanks to DR Laura.

Btw, the cake is gonna be some type of brownie cheesecake. I have not seen it yet but it is supposed to look great.

And tonight I am going to have bbq babyback ribs. And the dessert they bring is quite delicious. It is a brownie with ice cream and caramel sauce.

Jrand - have you  listened to Donald's Radio Show?  David Pevsner answers this question!

As for me, I was in the top row of a balcony, still reeling from the scenic photography and the cavorting horse in "I Have Confidence" when Mr. Plummer made his first studly appearance, but it wasn't until The Catpain and Maria shared a little dance that he won my foolish heart.

Good morning, all! I have too much audince participation today: my friend Josh has his senior recital at Manhattan School of Music at noon, and then I'm stayng around to catch the matinee of DIE FLEDERMAUS at 2:30. This means I have to carry some food with me in case during the 5-6 hours I'm out my blood sugar drops. I originally was going to see FLEDERMAUS on Friday night but Ron Raines gave me hell (his wife Dona's directing) and said the better cast was Wednesday's and Sunday's. so I changed my ticket. He called me yesterday and told me how good it was on Friday night!

This production is employing the current method adopted by too many fools running major opera houses: dialogue in English and the sung lyrics in German, and I detest it. I originally wan't going to go because I think this treatment of a European operetta is disgraceful; perform it in one language or the other but cut this half and half crap. Dona says she has to do it since she's sending srudents out to audition for opera companies, but I believe it's a pathetic situation and I'm surprised more don't bitch about it. But Jason Graae is guesing as Frosch the jailer in Act Three and . . .

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Happy Birthday to Our DR Jennifer !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
We have so many things to wish for you!

DR MattH i probably enjoyed the show more than you because the 2 guest stars were JT and Victoria (married on the show and in real life) from the Young & the Restless (he played the soap star and she was the professor).

So it was interesting seeing them (i thought she was better than him, although he was supposed to be sort of dumb on the show).  I agree the ending was great. Although it seems weird that it happened before jim changed to sam. I mean melinda has been in a few near death experiences since then!

Give Jason Graae a big sloppy kiss for me. He is the one who introduced DR Sandra and me to BK many  years ago.

Good morning!

My main computer locked up this morning and rather than do a hard reboot, I just switched to the laptop. That computer is going to need replacing soon!

It's a beautiful morning here. But it's going to be 86 today, so I have the attic fan on and doors open to try to suck in some cool air before I have to shut everything up to try to keep the house cool today.,

I got out this morning and mowed the front yard. I couldn't beloieve how quickly it had grown. Seems like I only mowed it two weeks ago, but it was probably longer.
