Well, I've surfed all I can think of to surf this morning, so I'm going to head down now and get the laundry ready for washing. Then, I'm going to start thinking about what's for lunch.

DR Jennifer I know how you felt losing the flower, though it wasn't an important item it made you happy.

Have a lovely day!

I don't remember reading this news. Have you mentioned this before?

I don't think I mentioned the date since they only recently set it & since they ran into a snag with the restaurant they booked.  Now they need to find a new place, not easy to do with one in NY & the other with more school work than hours to do it in.  Bryan lives about an hour outside of Chicago making it difficult to check out locations.

I feel stupid being so upset about it. It just made the purse look so nice. And it did make me happy every time i saw it. It was the first time i used that purse ( i took it out that day for spring). I don't even know where i would find another one like it.

I have had the same reaction to hats & hair accessories I've lost.  It seems silly but sometimes it is the little things that get to us, or really brighten our day.

In the heyday of sailing ships, all war ships and many freighters carried iron cannons. Those cannons fired round iron cannon balls. It was necessary to keep a good supply near the cannon.
However, how to prevent them from rolling about the deck? The best storage method devised was a square-based pyramid with one ball on top, resting on four resting on nine, which rested on sixteen. Thus, a supply of 30 cannon balls could be stacked in a small area right next to the cannon. There was only one problem...how to prevent the bottom layer from sliding or rolling from under the others. The solution was a metal plate called a 'Monkey' with 16 round indentations.
However, if this plate were made of iron, the iron balls would quickly rust to it. The solution to the rusting problem was to make 'Brass Monkeys..' Few landlubbers realize that brass contracts much more and much faster than iron when chilled. Consequently, when the temperature dropped too far, the brass indentations would shrink so much that the iron cannonballs would come right off the monkey.  Thus, it was quite literally, 'Cold enough to freeze the balls off a brass monkey.' (All this time, you thought that was an improper expression, didn't you)?

You should have quit while you were ahead.

And the word of the day is: OBLATION!
"Someone has stolen all the kneeling stools in the church!" wailed the secretary.  "Oh, what are we to do?  We cannot expect our elderly parishoners to kneel on the cold, hard floor when they take communion!"

"Well," the Randy Vicar wisely said, "I suppose, just this once, we can instead hold a standing OBLATION."

Never on Punday!

Now, let's talk some more about Christopher Plummer.

I saw him as MacBeth opposite Glenda Jackson.

I saw her show when it played here in Salem a couple of years back. It was fantastic!

Last night I watched MURDER AT THE VANITIES (1934) which is another film from Universal's PRE-CODE dvd set. Such a fun, fun movie with tons of outstanding Earl Carroll musical numbers.

If you enjoy back-stage murder mysteries you will love this movie!

I am going to have to rent the other titles in this set, or maybe just break down and buy it!
