A question for BK or any knowledgeable Californian...

Is Dana Point, California anywhere near North Hollywood?

I'm reading up on the history of skateboarding and finding conflicting info on who sold the first skateboard.

All the sources say that Bill Richards sold them from Val's Surf in 1959, at Dana Point, but the Val's Surf site itself says they weren't founded until 1962...

There's also MapQuest.

I was also kind of hoping for memories of skateboarding in the 1960s, but gee, thanks so bloody much for just saying, "No, Dana Point is nowhere near North Hollywood."

You asked "Is Dana Point, California anywhere near North Hollywood?".  We just pointed you to sources which would have provided an answer for you.  No "bloody" involved.

-And if you actually took the time to read the posts here on this board and post regularly, you would also know that no DR on this here site is interested in skate-boarding.  -At the very least, I don't recall skateboarding ever being mentioned by a DR.

And, again, you're more than welcome to Google "skateboarding 1960 dana point california".

Had an interesting rehearsal - I had the singer run straight through the show - the act is still solid - unfortunately, she's right back where she was when we began in terms of performance.  I'm sure some of it was nerves, but I was quite strong about the need to lock the patter again, work on the performance of it (she tends to sound like she's reciting, instead of just saying it as herself - it's ALL written in her voice and she's funny and charming in person), and the interpretation of the songs needs to get back to where it was.  So, we're back tomorrow, then they'll work on Tuesday without me, then we'll be back for four intensive rehearsals before we do the show.

Then I met Cason at the French Market Cafe - several of the waiters gave Cason very friendly glances, if you get my drift.  We went over what we needed to go over and it looks like we've got a large turnout for both casting sessions, so that's good.  I had a BLTA and a handful of sweet potato fries, and a half a wedge salad (shared with Cason), and then, for dessert, rice pudding.

I'm now sated.  I came home and proofed the booklet and inlay for House Of Flowers, and that's close to being finished now and can probably go to the printers on Tuesday.  The master will be to the pressing plant by Wednesday and we should have discs a couple weeks later.

Gosh, I thought you were joking until I read your following posts.  Looking up the info to help you & give you a visual idea of the locations & the distance between them is something we like to do around here.  I don't know about the skate board companies, surf makes me think surfboard, not skate board.

Thanks to DRs Druxy, MBarnum, Jose, Ginny and Kerry.

DR cillaliz re: your question if there is still a chance i could find the flower.

Well when i lost it i thought there was about a 60% chance i would find it. Since i had only gone to one place and then home. So i checked the car, the house and where i went. There is still a small chance that someone at the place could find it. But my guess is someone must have taken it.

Thanks to DR Danise.

Nice to see you posting. Good luck with the lawyer.

And yes DR Jrand, it was a good TAR tonight! I"ll be curious to see who people are rooting for now. There are some interesting dynamics and i could see some people disliking certain teams now.

Was Cason wearing his Brain from Planet X tights again?

bk - The next time you and Cason sup, maybe you should go to Mark's in NoHo.  No shortage of "friendly glances" there.

Tonight is Nancy Carroll night on TCM.  I haven't seen many of her movies - but when her contemporaries are interviewed about her, they don't have much nice to say about her offscreen personality.

I didn't think anyone's answers to 3DDiffusion were in any way unpleasant or attitude-laden.  If memory serves, that hasn't always been the case with her postings.

And so ends THE SEARCH FOR BEAUTY.
