Thanks MattH for the avsforums link.  They did indeed have an eighty-four page thread on my TV - I read it for a couple of hours - and someone complained about exactly what I was seeing.  Someone suggested changing the AMP setting to custom, moving the motion blur thing to ten (instead of five) and the jutter control to 0 (instead of 5).  I did that and voila, no more haloing or blurring and more importantly, everything suddenly looked more like film.  Not quite as razor sharp as it looked when it looked like everything had been shot yesterday with a hi-def camera, but a very good image.  So those problems are solved.  Setting the player and TV for BD Wise means the player outputs exactly what it reads from the Blu-Ray disc - i.e. 24fps.  So, I think I'm set.  Of course, I was getting used to the almost 3D look of everything before making these changes - Black Narcissus, while looking more film-like, doesn't have quite the incredible detail it had the other way.  I'll spend another day and see how I feel.  I've read a lot of differing reports on plasma TVs - including that they're on their way out.  I do know that in the store the LCD next to the Samsung plasma was much more pleasing to the eye, but someone said that was because it's so much brighter and that in a dark viewing environment the plasma would be much more pleasing.  It's all very confusing.

I am considering another 5K this weekend.  The online registration has ended and it's in a town about an hour from here, but I could run my registration up there tomorrow and then do the race Saturday morning and head on up to my parents house and arrive as already planned.   My ankle has been bothering me, so It's probably not the best idea I've ever had, but it would be fun....I'll see how the ankle is in the morning and may just do it.

WOW! Good for you Cilla!   I have never been a runner and I have enormous admiration ror those who can do it!

~~~ VIBES for a healty and painfree ankle!~~~
Oh, I'm not a runner.  I mostly walk and wouldn't think of doing a 5K that isn't a walk/run.  I did run part of the route last weekend, and might do the same.  Just not sure yet
Just wanted to check in for a moment and say, I hope everyone has a wonderful Friday.
I'm too tired to read the posts till tomarrow evening, it's been a 16 hour day for me so far.  I feel too old for this.
I had to drive my dad's car home from the hospital, it had been parked there for 6 days.    I had not driven a stick shift since the early 1980's.  I never made it out of 2ND gear, stalled, and  was very afraid at every stop.  Luckily Burbank is almost all senior citizens and no one seemed to care that I was going really really slow.
Talk to you Friday night.  Night all.
Opening night, so lots of last minute things to do, so no time to play. Press night went well on Monday night, so we're hoping for a strong start out of the gate (with no fade on the final turn) --  a Preakness metaphor ...
~~~Opening Night Leg Breakage Vibes for Miss Karen and Cast!!~~~

All the good leg breakage vibes did the trick (thanks HHW!)  -- the audience loved the show (and they were a great, supportive, and appreciative audience -- which always does wonders for opening night). Once again, I urge you community theatre HHWers to get 37 Postcards to your play selection committee or artistic director (the folks who select your season). It's so well written -- with lots of laughs and lots of heart.

And, I ended the evening with the two hour GREY'S ANATOMY which really put me through the wringer. What a roller coaster ride tonight!

And I would like to award Emmys to about five of the actors on the show tonight. Terrific performances from quite a few of the regular cast. If Justin Chambers doesn't land an Emmy nomination this year, there is NO justice.

I totally agree!  Talk about heart-wrenching twists.

Good Evening - I managed one post yesterday morning and then my computer froze and that was that.

Not to brag, but I just bought a computer!  I saved some money from my income tax refund (one of the things that I had planned to do with it) and finally found a deal that is pretty good...and has free shipping!  It's supposed to be shipped on June 3rd, so it'll  take a while to get here, but get here it shall! ;D
