I have no reason to narrate tales of my curmudgeonly behavior. There are too many witnesses doing it for me.

As for the Topic of the Day...

In general, it takes a lot - and I mean A LOT - to truly annoy me to the point where I have to voice (or finger ;) ) my annoyance.  I'll just keep rolling my eyes figuratively and literally until I have to raise my voice.  All in all, what gets my proverbial goat:

People who don't listen. More precisely, people who don't make an effort to listen.

I'm listening to the new HAIR cast recording to exorcise my inner curmudgeon a bit.  I do like what I'm hearing but I still prefer the original.  Whether the casting stories told were true or not, the original cast sounds like they really were a rag-tag bunch of street-wise hippies who were recruited to play in the show.  This new cast recording lacks that organic zeitgeist--a little too slick and too polished, but then, how could it not?  But I'm not putting it down--it sounds terrific, the performances are spot on and it's fun to hear parts of the score I never heard before.  It whets my appetite to come up and see the show.

Anyone here see the 70's revival?  I've heard awful stories about that one...

Jose - Seriously, what do you mean by people who won't listen, though?  People who don't take the time to listen to the words that are being said, or people who actually hear the words that are being said but then choose not to follow them?

At work, for example, i came to realize that all i can ask is that people listen to what's said, and then it's up to them to evaluate whether they want to follow it.

I'm off to my first presentation/meeting. I've taken my business cards (which I rarely use) and I'll be MIA until about 3pm.

DR FJL - As for people who won't listen... If I'm talking to someone - negotiating, bargaining, exchanging ideas - and I can tell that they are not listening to me, not paying attention to me, and/or not even going to process anything that I'm saying, that's what gets to me.  I will still respect you if I know that you've listened to and processed what I've said, even if I don't ultimately end up changing your mind.

The Mystery of the Cops solved:

Mr. Goldstein's car was stolen. This was the new car to replace the car destroyed in the accident a couple of months ago. He didn't even get the new plates for it yet.

Jose - sadly, that's approx. 80% [not a scientific number] of people I know, at least in the arts.  I think human nature is to want so much to get your own ideas out and heard, that you overlap and the other person feels you haven't heard what they said.  It's so rare for Person B to wait until Person A has come to a clear and full stop before adding to the conversation.

Good morning!

The sun is out and shining brightly even though we still have a rain forecast for this afternoon. I didn't think it was going to happen yesterday, but we did get rain and may get some today, too.

A favorite paradox is when Person B interrupts Person A, and when Person A tries to interject keeping Person B's rhythm of conversation, person B explodes at Person a for interrupting (essentially interrupting his interruption).  This happens on CNN and MSNBC and such quite often, it seems.

I have seen no UPS truck this morning, so I guess that means it's a "go" for CANNON this afternoon. That's fine with me. I haven't done a real TV box set in some time.
