As promised, here is your advance chance to get the new Kritzerland soundtrack release - it's a goody and I guarantee you it will be an instant sellout.

“I’M GONNA TELL YOU ‘BOUT GOD’S LITTLE ACRE”

Kritzerland is proud to present its newest limited edition CD – the original motion picture soundtrack from God’s Little Acre, with a score by Elmer Bernstein.

God’s Little Acre, Anthony Mann’s 1958 film from the classic and controversial novel by Erskine Caldwell (Mr. Caldwell was arrested and tried for obscenity – he won the case and the book became infamous), is a wonderfully-filmed slice of ripe Southern melodrama starring Aldo Ray, Tina Louise, and Robert Ryan.  The sultry poster, showing a bare-chested Ray standing next to the incredibly sexy and provocatively clad Louise certainly got people into the theater and it probably helped United Artists Records sell a few records, too.

Elmer Bernstein created one of his early classics with his score to God’s Little Acre.  From its infectious title song to the Americana-filled tonal colors, to the cues dripping with lush and gorgeous themes, Bernstein makes the film seethe with sensuality, humor, and pathos.  It’s a great score and one that has, for whatever reasons, taken a long time to come to CD.

Beautifully mastered for CD from the album masters, God’s Little Acre is an aural delight and a must-have for any film score aficionado or Bernstein fan.  In addition to the LP presentation, we’re very pleased to announce that we’ve found ten additional minutes of score cues, which were taken from Mr. Bernstein’s archival tapes, and we’ve included these cues as a bonus suite.  Very much in his 1950s/early 1960s mode, no one did this kind of score better than Elmer Bernstein – in fact, he probably wrote the book on this kind of score.

This release is limited to 1000 copies only.  The price is $19.98 plus shipping.

If that is the CD cover, I am sure you already sold a copy to MBarnum (oh, and to me!)

Good morning, all! I predict that DR MBarnum will buy several copies of the CD, one for each room of his home and the car and office.

More MOST HAPPY FELLA today, after I pay some bills. I also see a trip to the market in my immediate future.

I have no reason to narrate tales of my curmudgeonly behavior. There are too many witnesses doing it for me.

Jose - sadly, that's approx. 80% [not a scientific number] of people I know, at least in the arts.  I think human nature is to want so much to get your own ideas out and heard, that you overlap and the other person feels you haven't heard what they said.  It's so rare for Person B to wait until Person A has come to a clear and full stop before adding to the conversation.

Why should they?  Then it is a lecture, not a conversation.

You know, I might just need to watch the DVD of GOD'S LITTLE ACRE that I bought eons ago, then I will know if I like the music enough to buy the CD.

PS: I still think Albert Glasser would be a good seller...but maybe that is just me.

PPS: When I used to be in contact with Mr. Glasser back in the 1980s he had all his music on reel to reel, if I recall correctly.

The God's Little Acre music is divoon - it's primo Elmer Bernstein during his greatest period.  I'm listening to it now - it sounds great, too.

Here is the Nudie Musical updated press release.

The First Nudie Musical, a new musical based on the hit cult film from the 1970s comes to the stage in a two-night only staged reading as part of the LA Festival of New Musicals.

The First Nudie Musical, the film, came out in 1976 to much critical acclaim.  It became an instant cult film and it was one of the first films to hit cable TV, where it was hugely successful for many years.   Unlike most of the recent film to stage adaptations, Nudie started life as a film musical, so adapting it for the stage seemed to be a natural.

The First Nudie Musical has a book by Bruce Kimmel and David Wechter, and music and lyrics by Bruce Kimmel (Kimmel wrote, co-directed, and starred in the film, along with Cindy Williams, Stephen Nathan, and Diana Canova).  In addition to the songs from the film, there are eleven new numbers.

The staged reading will be directed by Bruce Kimmel, with choreography by Adam Cates. Cason Murphy is producing.  Starring will be Ted Detwiler (Sordid Lives), Niki Scalera (B'way's Hairspray and Tarzan), Michael Irish (The Brain From Planet X), Sharon McNight (Starmites), Alet Taylor (The Producers), Barry Pearl (Grease, the Movie), Marlene Martinez, Jenna Romano, Dimas Diaz, and others.  John Randall (Jersey Boys, American Idol tour) is musical director.

This free two-night only event will take place on June 15 and 16 at 7:30 at the NoHo Arts Center.

Early reservations are advised (seating is limited) and can be made by e-mailingnudiemusical@gmail.com or calling 323 599-7343.

For more information on the LA Festival of New American Musicals please visitwww.lafestival.org

The NoHo Arts Center is at 11136 Magnolia Blvd. North Hollywood, CA 91601

I remember some weeks back the disgust that BK had when he saw a lady jogger who had the word "pink" written across hear pants seat.

I am looking out the window at the firemen who are attending to something or other. One of the fireman is bent over getting something out of his tool chest and I have noticed that he has the word "Salem" written across his pants seat.

However, it is not bothering me in the least.

Nice to be here, if only for a brief moment. Depending on what happens today, I could be spending *a lot* more time here...

I know that is supposed to be the dire result, but personally, I would be thrilled.

Errands done, and now I'm pondering my dinner choices.

It's been very gray/grey and misty here in NYC this afternoon.  I had to run around Union Square for a bit, and the atmosphere - literally - seemed almost Fall-like.  But still no out and out rain(fall).

is "palled around" a euphemism for certain preferences of Ms Lebowitz?

You mean, being bitchy?     ;)     I certainly hope not!     :)

I think he meant butchy.
