*That was something I saw in the Philippines.  And I have no idea exactly "when" or "what" are the "tender years".

It looks like I will be going to DC on June 15, but alas, only for the day. We will leave here in the early morning, arrive in time for a noon meeting at our DC location on K Street and leave on the first train after 3pm that we can catch. We will have a meeting with people from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. I doubt that Mr. Gates himself will be there but still, it's pretty cool. I've suddenly become the Presentation Master. In April I had a presentation to our Board of Directors, the next week I made a presentation to people at the Ford Foundation, Thursday I had the Annie E. Casey meeting and a presentation to the Senior Managers at the FC. Now I'm going to DC for the Gates Foundation and if the madness continues I may have to make another presentation to the Henry Luce Foundation on the very next day I'm back from DC.

I don't know how it all happened but it's fun, for a while anyway.

I won't have any time to spend in DC so I can't see my friends or have dinner or go early (on the weekend), since we are already booked up with New York events (including Anthony's birthday on June 10).

Looks like a busy June.

*And just a friendly reminder for any DRs who may be contemplating a trip into Times Square later today:

The First Family will be in town tonight, and they are supposed to be seeing the current revival of Joe Turner's Come and Gone.  So, if you add the Obama's visit, coupled with the new-ish Times Square Pedestrian Mall and the wonderful weather, well...  Can you say, "Grid Lock?"

TOD:

Norton Juster's The Phantom Tollbooth.

It is so imaginative that even Chuck Jones couldn't do it justice.

DR Ben - Splurge on the Acela! :)

I'm hoping they (the 2 upper levels traveling with me) will make that decision. Unfortunately, I have no say in the matter. I'm too low on the food chain.

A book with a fictional world?

Would THE WIZARD OF OZ qualify?

Of course, if you've read my book,  then you know that Oz was a real place.

Good morning!

A beautiful spring day seems to be upon us. Blue sky and sun shining. No rain in the forecast, and we didn't get any rain yesterday for the first time this week.

TOD:

Definitely the HARRY POTTER series, and the films that have been made have helped solidify the world in my mind especially since the early films especially slavishly followed the books.

I was out fairly early this morning mowing my front yard. (Not as early as previous attempts. I slept until after 8 a.m. which is rare for me.) I probably could have a wait a few more days, but it's nice to have that done and behind me for awhile. If the rain holds off for a week, I'll be able not to mow again for a couple of weeks.

My work project today will be THE CLEANER. Looks like I'll be spending all day on it since there are a goodly amount of bonus features on each disc and commentaries, too. Reviewing old series usually means looking at just the episodes as the amount of supplementary material is rather meager, but today's shows generally film a bunch of behind-the-scenes stuff with a DVD release in mind.

BK & I both posted the same question yesterday.

Will there be a HHW get together prior the opening of The First Nudie Musical?

DR MBarnum are you coming down to LA??

As much as I would very much love to do so, I just cannot afford any vacations this year due to the pay cuts and furloughs we are suffering at work and the fact that my credit cards are pretty much maxed out!
