Friday morning greetings!  Today we're going to the ribbon-cutting for a friend's new business and to a program about the Ohio Bicentennial Barn project.

DR Jose re: SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE.

What did you think of it?

I was so annoyed in the middle of wed's show as i gather were many many others re: natalie.
That was just crap.  I also felt so bad for alex the ballet dancer. But he probably should have found that out first. And i agreed with mary murphy re: natalie's friend, the black guy whose name escapes me right now. He was so good. ANd mia and little c were being so rude to him!

I love the Vegas shows. BUt they are always disappointing because so many people we end up loving from the auditions get cut for no apparent reason. And there are probably 10 people who made it who i have never seen before. What is that about???

MEdia Check:

iPod:  incessantly playing BIG WHISKY AND THE GROOGRUX KING--the latest Dave Matthews Band studio release

Tivo:  CASANOVA BROWN and Conan O'Brien's Tonight Show debut

DVD:  MGM's KISS ME KATE

I wonder if they will ever release the 3-D version of KISS ME KATE to dvd.  That would be a kick.

TOD:
DVD: Madame Bovary, a couple of operettas
CD: Offenbach's La Perichole, Tom Jones soundtrack, The Story of My Life, Malcolm Gets
VCR: cheep porn

Good morning!

It has been raining all night and all morning. Seems to have stopped for the moment, but we are WATERLOGGED!

My work project today is going to be pretty simple: BERGMAN'S ISLAND which I have already watched. I'll just spot check the disc to make sure it works and looks the same as the one I watched last night. But I will have to write up a full review this afternoon since I only wrote a brief little summary as part of my lengthier review of THE SEVENTH SEAL.

bk,

Don't get your hopes up for the transfer of BROKEN ARROW. It's not in the top tier of Blu-ray transfers. I was disappointed with it, especially since the film has always been a popcorn thriller favorite of mine.

Michael Dale on ATC was kind enough to post the parody lyric to the best of his memory for those who need to sing along:

"I remember snippets from when D Jay Bradley would sing it at Don't Tell Mama:

Phylicia Rashad
Phylicia Rashad
Phylicia Rashad
She plays the mom, Bill Cosby plays the dad.

She's the sister of Debbie Allen
She's the sister of Debbie Allen
She's the sister of Debbie Allen
Who used to be on Fame.

She's the sister of Debbie Allen
She's the sister of Debbie Allen
She's the sister of Debbie Allen
But now nobody knows her name."

Good Morning!

I'm up, I'm up... And it looks like our landlord may actually work out a special deal for us this month, and/or at least until we find two new roommates.  Will wonders never cease?!

And catching up from yesterday...

I "played" a dance rehearsal for Phylicia Rashad's sister once.  I was a three hour call.  She started the warm-up.  She started talking to the dancers during the warm-up.  Then we had a break.  Once the break was over, she continued talking (trash) with the dancers.  Another break. She started to demonstrate a dance step, which one of the dancers recognized from a past project, which, of course, led to more talking about said past project. Time!

I don't think I played a single note on the piano that whole time.

That, and "the board" - which, we think is only comprised of the property manager's father - knows that there is a glut of cheaper (and better) apartments on the market right now.  We shall see.

In any case, it will nice to spend this coming weekend without this (figuratively) hanging over our heads like the dark clouds that are (literally) over our heads in NYC right now.

bk - I was about to ask if you were working under any sort of union affiliation or requirements, but after reading your Notes, question asked and answered.

Do you happen to know if there is any "workshop" rate out there in L.A.? Even under the whole Equity Waiver set up?

Thanks to Jose and MichaelS--yes, and now I know where I had seen Francine Swift before.  She was the scary psycho Nelda on a L&O:CI that just repeated on USA a few days ago.

Thanks also for continued vibage for Betsy's dad.  He's in the OR right now, and we should have a prognosis by noon our time.

And lastly, my IV with Coraline's Line Producer is live:

DR Ben -

It's a world of laughter
A world of tears
It's a world of hopes
And a world of fears
There's so much that we share
That it's time we're aware
It's a small world after all

There is just one moon
And one golden sun
And a smile means
Friendship to ev'ryone
Though the mountains divide
And the oceans are wide
It's a small world after all

It's a small world after all
It's a small world after all
It's a small world after all
It's a small, small world
