DR elmore - Did a gay men's chorus really schedule a concert on the same night as that Tony Awards?

;)

*According the tweets from rehearsal, Guys & Dolls will be performing around the one hour mark.

At 3:00 there is a reading of "Bleeding Through" downtown and I already have reservations.  I hope everything goes ok with my dad and I get to go, I've never been to the Shakespeare Festival/LA facility.

Dear MattH, the fundraiser I'm going to next weekend has conversations with the writers of The Closer.
(this is for the same show above, Bleeding Through)

Then I'll come home, and turn on the computer.

I can watch the Tony's live on the computer if I'm not in NY.  ?

This would be good, I unplugged the TV and put it in the stack of stuff for Out of the Closet.

I don't think CBS will be live-streaming the event tonight.

However, maybe someone will hack into CBS' feed again - like they did last year during the rehearsal - and broadcast it on the 'net.  -Prolly not.

(Was this discussed  here a long time ago?)

I really should get out of the apartment for a little bit today, but there's also a lot of stuff I need to get done around here - a.k.a. laundry.  So, I think I might just take a walk around my 'hood for a bit, then settle back in here for the rest of the afternoon and evening.  -I guess that's a plan.

Not so long ago - the movie only came out last November. ;)

Dear Jose, then I'll just plug the TV in again.  I'll buy a new one after the 12th.

I wish Guy Haines was busy recording a new cd, instead of acting in movies.

Well, I stick with the Tonys through thick and thin. Even years when I wasn't enthusiastic about the shows up for awards (like last year), I was still not going to miss it. Gives me always a taste of Broadway, and I have such a long history with coming to NYC specifically to see shows, it's just a part of me.

Yes, time marches on.  The move to Radio City Music Hall was to keep the Tony "broadcasts" alive.  And it worked.  So, "Yay!"

DR Michael S - Even though you may not watch The Tony's, you might as well turn on your TV, and turn to CBS tonight.  At least for the ratings point.  ;)

Seriously, if people just stop watching The Tony's, then it's foreseeable that they will just stop broadcasting them.  -Which has almost happened a few times over the past couple of years. Watch the ceremony, then write a constructive and supportive letter to CBS and the American Theatre Wing.

And, yes, the "themes" were fun, but when it comes down to it, it's all about who gets honored with the statuette.

If any DR would like a peek into this morning's Tony Awards rehearsal, you can click:

http://twitter.com/#search?q=%23tonys

To check out the various tweets by people in attendance, both in the audience and on stage.  Many people posted pics too. You will probably have to hit "more" at the bottom of the screen a few times - as well as wade through lots of tweets from other excited Tony fans around the country.

*And it was nice to see that everyone (I think) honored the request not too "spoil" the jokes and some of the other surprises coming up tonight.

Well, I stepped out a little bit ago, and found that it was indeed another glorious day outside... And since I just remembered that an exhibit I've been wanting to check out at MoMA is closing today... Well...

Alice Ripley should win, and will I predict.  I'm still not certain that the Awards committee is going to award one award to the three youths in BILLY ELLIOTT since they have careers ahead of them in which to prove themselves.

Exccept it's not a committee that awards the prizes. It's the entire membership (over 700) who vote on the awards. The committee nominates.

Duh!  I knew that!  I must've been brain-f**ting. . .

I signed up for twitter a while ago, but I still don't understand the whole thing (My name is Tom, and I am internet challenged).  Am I to believe that Jane Fonda is actually tweeting or twitting live AND posting photos that she took?

Don't know if the designer is nominated, but someone should get an award for spraying on Constantine Maroulis' pants in ROCK OF AGES.

Wouldn't it be fun to have a Tony in your bedroom?

I will say while there aren't that many things I miss about living in the Southwest, the desert mountains are one of them. I love the way they change as the light changes.  I was very happy to have a great view of them from my hotel window.   I'll post some photos when I get home.

You miss the mountains, so does Alice Ripley in NEXT TO NORMAL.

Well, you see what happens?  It's Sunday, the workers are off, it's blissfully quiet and I slept until ten-thirty.  Which I really needed.  I'm groggy but feel so much better.

I understood why they made the move to Radio City, but I think the show suffered mightily for it - and since the show gets bad ratings year in and year out, they might as well have left it alone.  I miss the days when it didn't "look" like the Oscars and every other pumped up awards show - the days when it retained a modicum of class.  But I wouldn't think of missing the show.

They still have an opening number that hasn't been shifted to the pre-show!
