I read that the opening number is FANTASTIC THE BEST EVER AMAZING!  Posted, I have no doubt, by a first-class shill of the production team.

I just cannot get with Twitter.  I don't want to post minute by minute updates and now that I think about it didn't Twitter just rip that idea off by attending our Academy Awards Do, where exactly that happens here at haineshisway.com :)

I had lunch.  I went to the toilet.  I'm driving to Burbank.  I mean, who gives a crap.

I predict CBS will allow the Tonys to run over this year.

(actually that's per a post by Mr. Marc Shaiman on All That Chat)

How do all these people who post on these boards attend the rehearsals?  I'm sure these "today" producers do it because they know they'll immediately go post on the boards, but I find it a little weird that just anyone can apparently walk in and watch.

I just looked at BroadwayWorld's idiot twittering - it is EXACTLY what we've been doing here at haineshisway.com on awards shows for years.  I get it now! :)  The only difference is that we do it with humor and fun.  I get it now!

It occurs to me that I haven't done anything today.  And I'm jiggy with that.

I suppose I might try and do the long jog and then think about what I might like to eat today and think about finishing Australia, which is a bloody three-hour movie.

Dear MattH, the fundraiser I'm going to next weekend has conversations with the writers of The Closer.
(this is for the same show above, Bleeding Through)

I'm very envious. These writers compose stories that stand the test of multiple viewings and need to be congratulated. I have watched every episode at least a half dozen times and some of them many, many more.

I really can't predict Tonys. I haven't seen the shows or read enough about the feelings of the Broadway community about who's nominated. The Oscars are much easier to predict than the Tonys.

I know who I WANT to win, but that's a different matter all together.

I began by watching THE FASHION SHOW while I ate lunch. Once again, I disagreed violently with whom they eliminated. I also disagreed with this week's winning design. So, I guess the show was a very frustrating experience for me this week.

Then I watched MORNING LIGHT. It's an OK documentary about the TransPac race from California to Diamond Head with a crew of 18-23 year old helming a boat of their own against vastly more experienced crews. The doc didn't quite delve enough into the personalities of the 11 crew members. A couple got much more attention than others, and instead of feeling like I knew them when the movie ended, they were just some names and faces and some I couldn't even recall their names.

So, it was OK but nothing special.

There were two bonus features on the Blu-ray. The first was some behind-the-scenes information about the training the kids got before the race began.

The second was a bit more revelatory. The crew was originally culled from a contest pitting 30 young people against each other for these positions. (The movie begins when the 30 had been narrowed down to 15 and from them 11 were chosen for the final crew.) This was an ESPN one hour show that showed the decision making behind who got picked and who was jettisoned.

While I folded laundry, I began the next episode of THE CLOSER from the Season 4 set. This is the one with the high school girl who was raped and later was found hanged. Daniel Baldwin plays the suspected boy's irate father (also a member of LAPD).

Folks must be enjoying an early summer holiday or something because the internet does not seem very active. I'm going to hop off-line now and get some writing done, and then rush around like a crazy person getting ready for the pre-Tony internet broadcast and then the BIG SHOW.

Back from the long jog - how can we STILL be on page four?  Well, I think I have an answer for it - some of our dear readers are TWITTERING and Facebooking.  Not me.  I'm HERE, baby.  And when those things become the equivalent of Colecovision, I will STILL be here.
