I hate being so negative.   Perhaps I should just refrain from commenting.

Kay Thompson wrote a bunch of extra lyrics for The Atchison, Topeka and the Santa Fe as each Harvey Girl introduces herself, instead of Johnny doing it. Both he and Harry Warren turned down their Oscars and Van Johnson accepted them.

Interesting.................did Kay ever comment?

I liked the one from the Nathan Lane version that was on the telcast 15 years ago.

Yup.....after seeing that, I bought the CD and put it on my list of suggestions for shows I wanted to do!

Not sure this one would have had the same effect.

Poor Liza...poor, poor Liza.    I saw Clive Rowe do Rockin' The Boat to about 8 encores at the National in the nineties.  This was a pale shadow of that number.

That's the way it goes....the good the bad and the ugly.....although sometimes we get called on our own personal opinions expressed in an open forum.

I don't see anything wrong about bening negative as long as the opinions are honest and reasonable, not bitchy for the sake of being bitchy, and no one could ever accuse you of that, DR DAW.

It was definitely a bold artistic choice to add Fourth of July fireworks to the opening moments of "Sit Down."

To quasi-quote Sondheim: "But you're here."

And that's really all that matters.

A nice touch to show a bit of the off-air acceptance speeches.   That's some quick editing.  Are you moonlighting, DR edisaurus??   :)

I will say that I was surprised that the musical director of the original off-Broadway production of a certain musical was not mentioned in a certain acceptance speech.
