So, after reading comments I guess CBS allowed the show to run over a few minutes. I wasn't sure if we were seeing it live in the theatre and everyone else watching on television had been cut to their local news casts. Glad to hear that it was broadcast live. It was quite funny. According to a friend who went to the rehearsal most of the dummy lyrics ended up being the real lyrics.

Yes, it has been scanned. I have the body of the ticket. Since it has no bar code it couldn't be scanned so they took the perforated end off of the ticket and then it was punched when I got my program.

I had been hoping to get at least one extra program but they are guarded like the gold at Fort Knox. You have to show your ticket, which is then punched or scanned depending on what kind of ticket you have and that's all you get. I hung around after the show to scour for floor samples but ALMOST NO ONE left programs on the floor. I did manage to get one and almost two but a beady-eyed little scavenger beat me to it.

I was gonna join the par-tay last night, but I tuned in to the show and fairly quickly tuned out -- they completely lost me around the Shrek number (those costumes -- geeeak! -- that's a cross between a gag and a scream -- the donkey looked like it had been left out in the rain ... or eaten by moths -- cheesy costumes in my humble opinion, but what do I know out here in the boonies -- I just read it won best costumes for a musical...who knew ...) I tried to check back in a few times, but nothing could draw me back in ... so eventually I changed the channel ...

... and figured who would want someone at the party wondering around muttering: "hot tranny mess" over and over

a few good things -- but overall -- what was shown from many of those shows wasn't good PR (I'm just saying, for me, I wasn't moved to rush out and buy a ticket)

That was the impression I had -- because you could see everyone else scramble off and he just stood there facing the audience like "ain't I something" and I was thinking "get off the stage, doofus" and then when the set starting changing I was thinking "you'd better hurry, doofus" ... and he didn't ....

... and then I thought: "ouch, I hope he's okay" simultaneously with "that's someone who doesn't take direction"

Well, I hope he doesn't miss any performances of ROCK OF AGES. But if he does, at least I know I can still go see Dolly Parton in 9 TO 5 and Elton John in BILLY ELLIOT.

I enjoyed the Tony awards broadcast last night. I could have done without the touring shows and maybe a number from 9 to 5 instead.

And what was the deal with a lot of the singing? Either my hearing is showing its age or stuff gets distorted on TV, or there were a lot of "pitchy" issues (see, I've learned something from American Idol ...)

And I completely forgot I have a dinner to go to at seven - an LACC thing. Jan Abrams kept badgering me about a rehearsal time and I KNEW there was something on for tonight but couldn't remember and I hadn't written it down - then got a reminder e-mail. So, she'll have to rehearse by herself, or I can be there for the first half-hour - unless we get through early, in which case we can start earlier.
