Sad and scary news out of Washington, DC, this afternoon.  A man opened fire in the Holocaust Museum.  Apparently, three people injured, a security guard, the gunman and possibly a bystander.

Very sad.  I hope the 2 innocent people will be ok.

Have you tried the graphic background in reverse/negative? With more white, the text would pop out more. Or you could also try taking down the gray another notch of two for a half-tone effect.

Not exactly.  Make the (original) gray white; and the white gray.  As if a white image was being printed on gray paper.

And if you un-bold the font, and maybe take it down one point in size, all the text could possibly fit in the middle of the star.

My Life Needs New Episodes

Well.. The whole landlord/apartment saga continues here in Hamilton Heights.  I just had another discussion with our property manager, and even though some of it was confusing, I did find out that she went ahead and put us on a month-to-month situation right now since she did not give us a new lease to sign when it was supposed to given to us.    So...

We are "safe" until the end of the month. However, unless we find two new roommates before the end of the week, it looks like we're going to have to move.  Alas, with my current work situation, well... Just got lots of thinking to do.

Lordy, DR Jose! This is terrible news. Didn't the tenants have a copy of this new lease? Are you the designated tenant-landlord liaison?

DR Ron, I did clean, & I did take a much needed break from the computer.  My body doesn't like when I use the computer too much.

We then went on a Baltic cruise to celebrate 40 years of marriage.  It is a real let down to come home sick, at least I  felt great during the trip.  I was very happy, relaxed, and saw some beautiful places.  We had a wonderful celebration.

I may have to make a trip to Amherst College Library. The least expensive way is a 5-hour ride on a Peter Pan bus. Oy! I guess I'd better start planning this and find a place to stay overnight.

I wonder if Emily Dickinson would sign my book of her poetry while I'm there?

Well.. DR elmore - I made myself the tenant-landlord liaison since we never heard word back from our landlord until the middle of last week.  I just didn't like the feeling of not knowing exactly what was going on with the lease, especially from a legal "what it says in the lease" standpoint.  However, it has sort of worked in our favor.  I was able to negotiate a reduction in the rent, and under the current arrangement, we can still stay in the apartment until the end of the month.  And, if in the meantime, we do find two new roommates, then we'll just sign a new lease then.  I'd say more about the negotiations, but... :-x

As far as work and rent are concerned, I can cover the rent right now.  I just don't think I can cover rent, a move, another security deposit and another month's rent right now.  Just breathing and taking it one day at a time right now.

A most happy birthday to Anthony, who I just saw yesterday...in photographic form, that is...I was putting (finally) my two NYC trip photos into photo albums and there were snaps of many DRs, past and present!

We just got back from a day out in New York.

We went to Grant's Tomb (122nd Street)

Lincoln Center branch of the New York Public Library and the Astor Gallery for an exhibition of some of the papers of Katherine Heburn (66th Street)

and then

New York Public Library at 42nd Street for an exhibition on 1969, the first year of Gay Liberation (as it was called back then).

Now we are home and will go out to eat later.

Anthony received a card in the mail and a package from a friend in Wisconsin. I haven't given him his card and gift yet.

All in all, it's been a nice day. I'm out of the office, hell, it's been a great day!

Thank you.  I tried to stay away from Keith.  I'll feel terrible if he gets this, he has soooo much hard work to do outside.  Sherlock & I have been doing some major cuddling on the bed.  I haven't walked him yet.
