TOD:

CD - John Wiliams Spanish Classical Guitar.  This is our preshow musical, and while it is NOT completely accurate time wise, there are some lovely songs on it.

DVD - Like DR DtM, The Lucy Show - with the original openings and commercials on many shows.  If the show did not reach I LOVE LUCY status - it was close.  I really hate the men they paired Lucy and Viv with, really no sparks there.  And the constant bickering with Mr Barnsdahl (Charles Lane) and later Mr Mooney (Gale Gordon in later seasons) was just repetitive and annoying.  I like Gale Gordon MUCH better as Mr. Conklin.

BUT three of the episodes for me are classic Lucy/Viv physical comedy.....Lucy & Viv Put Uo a TV Antenna, Lucy & Viv Install a Shower. and Lucy & Viv Are Volunteer Firemen.  I don't think anyone today - not even Debra Messing - could do the same things with the same resultant hilarity.

Ain't that right!

So far, the only adult male presense on the show I like is Dick Martin.  Charles Lane is Charles Lane but I prefer Gale Gordon's Mr. Mooney (have to wait till season 2 for him, I think.)

Also, I've noticed how bright and cheery and breezy Vivian Vance was in the first couple of episodes but then she seemed to have gone through a tough spell where she looked tired and drawn for a time.  Maybe she was starting to realize the show was a hit and that she was going to be tied to it (and the work) for the next couple of years.

Yup Dick Martin is the one I like, but there isn't much chemistry with Lucy.  And I think Vivian had moved to Connecticut was commuting to the do show, staying in Lucy's guest house when the show was in production.  So she never really got "away" from Lucy for those months....and of course she had married John Dodds (whose name was used as a senator in "Volunteer Firemen") and he worked in NYC as an editor for G P Putnam, and the separation was not fun for her.

There must have been something in the air, JR.  Roger (as Hitler) went up last night, which he has never done before.  In that middle section before his little monologue, he sang this:

Where or where was he
Where or where was me
I looked around, and never found
Oh what a mystery

It was very hard for me not to burst out laughing, especially since he's basically half in the pit there (his legs anyway).

There's a Playbill article on Skip's show Herringbone, opening tonight at La Jolla Playhouse.

BK, if they're upping your fee by $1000, why not just charge $1-2 more for a 2 disc set.  I'm sure everyone would pay that, you'd cover your costs (and perhaps eke out a little profit), and that's that.

I, too, have been remiss in passing along La Mancha vibes toward central Indiana.  Best wishes for the remainder of the run!

I just walked to the corner market and back with no crutches, but I think I should have taken one of them. I learned yesterday that taking both was not a smart move

Good Afternoon!

I LOVED "Julie & Julia". And, yes, I cried. A couple of times. The Food was amazing, but the Love Stories were even better. And since a good chunk of it was set in NYC, I loved seeing some very familiar sights. Bur what really made me tear up was seeing some dear friends and colleagues on screen - Congratulations to them (too)!!

Are you performing the show with or without an intermission, and if so, where have you inserted it?

DAW-- that's a pretty personal question!!!

Oh! I must have just missed you since I ended up wandering up Broadway for a bit after the movie. I was probably in Zabar's when you walked "by".

Rest well today.

Good morning, everyone.

It's chaotic here today. I overslept, the cleaning lady (who I don't like!) is here, and the usual quiet, which I so love and thrive on, is missing! Calm, Jeanne, calm.

I've been interested to observe the effects of Wednesday's eclipse. I had the worst day I've had in a long time--nothing went right. Yesterday, on my weekly trek to Beverly Hills, I observed the aftermath of several vehicular smash-ups. Now the posts relate theatrical aberrations. And JRand says to watch out this weekend! OK! I get it!

TOD:

DVD: THE MYSTERY ON THE BLUE TRAIN
(thanks to DR MATTH's mention of this the other day. I thought I'd seen all of the David Suchet Poirots, but I hadn't heard about this one. A lovely performance from him, as usual.)
THE RED DWARF (has anyone seen this? I found it strangely satisfying)
WIRE IN THE BLOOD Season 6
