Thanks to DRs Vixmom, DAW, and Cillaliz for the comments about next Friday's halftime tribute to John. While it's fitting, part of me wishes it had taken place sooner than it will. They've waited until Franklin's first home game, but it will be like ripping the scab off a wound that's just beginning to heal.

I hope NINE is a big fat hit, but I predict that it won't be. EVen with all those well known names, the piece has never had great popular success - less than two years on Broadway in its original run and a well regarded revival that depended on star casting to sell tickets. And while the Yeston songs are well crafted and sophisticated, they don't have that cynical pizzazz that made the CHICAGO tunes work so well in the 21st century.

I hope I'm wrong, but I just can't see this being a big hit.

I watched three complete episodes of LEVERAGE in the late morning/early afternoon. The pilot is loads of fun as we get to know the various characters and their quirky personalities, and the second episode is even better.

Then I watched the Bollywood movie FRIENDS FOREVER which DR MBarnum sent me quite a while ago. I did like the central male relationship very much; very touching and I believed their closeness and loving bond. The love stories weren't of much interest, and the melodrama just not my thing. The musical numbers often went on too long past their effectiveness, but I understand that's the nature of the beast. They were certainly colorful.

So, thanks, MBarnum, for this nice introduction to one of your most cherished genres of movies. You haven't made a convert, but it was certainly a change of pace.

I then went back to LEVERAGE and started my fourth episode of the day. This one guest stars Sam Anderson (who plays Bernard on LOST) as a corrupt construction company owner. I'm going to enjoy seeing him get his comeuppance, and it's nice to see him play someone other than the sweet Bernard.

Ventura Boulevard is expected to be closed until at least noon today, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department The break occurred at 10:40 p.m. Saturday at the corner of Coldwater Canyon and Dickens Street, causing widespread damage to cars, flooding buildings and weakening retaining walls.

Some residents were evacuated and 120 firefighter responded to the scene.

According to the fire department, the water was 3-4 feet deep and at least one person was rescued from a car.

No one was hurt.

Officials are investigating the cause of the water main break.

Maybe BK got those boxes up into shelves just in time.

My parents used to have raucous festivities when they entertained their Pinochle club.

I played Canasta throughout my early teens.

I was an avid Pinochle player in the Navy and college until I discovered Bridge.

My married years were all but consumed by Duplicate Bridge - games at local clubs on weekday nights, short trips to local tournaments on weekends and occasional out of city jaunts for National Events.

Most of the area's major events were held at the Ambassador Hotel in LA - and we often ate at the Brown Derby across the street. After the Ambassador closed the events moved to the Pasadena Convention Center.

Some things just baffle me to no end.

I'm sorry Ginny, I missed your original post. I did go back and read it. Will you be at the game?

For me opening the wounds with such a beautiful tribute would help the healing deep down.

I knew something was screwy because I went to go to Jerry's for a sandwich and Whitsett was a total disaster - cars coming onto Whitsett from every direction possible and backing up traffic unbelievably. I did manage to turn left and take the back entrance to Jerry's but had no idea why Ventura was closed. However, by the time I finished my sandwich, Ventura was open and everything was fine. I'm about a mile from Coldwater and two blocks considerably north of where the problem was.

I'm with MattH re Nine. First of all, what no one is admitting is that this film has been in deep hell for some time, with many reshoots happening, including major dance reshoots here in LA. I hear there are more coming. As MattH points out, Nine was never the success it seems to want to think it was, and I think it basically holds 0 interest for the people who turn movies into hits these days. Add to that the fact that its director seems to be a one trick pony in regards to movie musicals (just the look of the film alone would tell you that) and now we're being told that they are attempting to use the same device as Chicago, i.e. seeing all the numbers as performance numbers, I'd say they're grasping at straws right about now. But, you never know.

DR Jane i love the wooden coasters and find i can barely stay inside them!

When i was younger i used to ride the monster here a lot with my uncle (cause he loves coasters too). But i would go bouncing around!

If you had truly almost flown out of a roller coaster you would not want to ride one you could barely stay inside of. I admit I was a couple of inches shorter.

I've had numerous neck injuries, more than I can count, and must be careful. As the boys got older and didn't need me to ride with them I would let them test a new ride & give and report on how bumpy it was. Very sad were the years my neck was so bad I could not go on any roller coasters at all. It was very depressing for me to go to an amusement park. The last time we went to Cedar Point, a place you would love, I saved the photo of me on the big roller coaster as a reminder to stay off the rides. I look terrified, and I was. I thought my neck was going to fall off.
