So, DR George - Dan Brown's book is released today.  Presumably your library branch [or system] purchased multiple copies.  Just curious on the turnaround time.  When might the first people on the waiting list be able to check out a copy and start reading?

We got our actual regular print books (35 copies, 449 holds!), large print books (7 copies) and talking books on CD (6 copies) late last week.  They were processed and ready to go out by today.  HOWEVER, last Friday, the holds lists for the LP and the TB formats were merged into one list! :o BIG MISTAKE!!  There is no way to tell which format originally had which names.

Wow!  That Dan Brown is famous.  I had no idea that they ever released books on LP in this day and age.

We're progressive AND retro! ;)

Hope Sam feels better soon.  Perhaps Sam will feel better reading a new novel I happen to know Sam has :)

I have a new roof across the back of my house! The roofers were done right around 2:10, so I am thrilled beyond belief to have one part of my home renovation completed. I'll have to wait until next month to do anything else. Not a dime to my name for the rest of this month, I'm afraid. (Well, thankfully, some stock dividends pay out this month, and that's my spending money).

They did a wonderful job, and were really hard workers. They didn't even stop for lunch. Worked right through from 9:20 until 2.

Not one word on whether either one was cute?

He is mine all mine and you cannot have him!

Seriously, Frank, the younger brother of the family who does all of the paperwork, was gorgeous and I nearly swooned every time I talked to him.

Thanks, everyone, for the good wishes about the roof. I am very happy with it, but the rain which arrives tomorrow or Thursday will let me know if I've spent my money wisely. It certainly LOOKS sturdy and solid.

I spent the first half of my evening watching the bonus features on WOLVERINE. I enjoyed some of the features a lot. The BD-Live feature which allows the user to look up any actor in a scene on the imdb while continuing to watch the movie worked seamlessly.

Next I watched another episode of CASTLE. I skipped the one with the frozen body since I just watched that on the network last week, so I went to the next one which was the voodoo episode with some creepy murders.

I have been slogging through this backlog of reviews I was handed when I joined Blu-ray.  I'm down to one opera catalog title, one "ambient television" (I term I am trademarking, just so you know ;) ) title and a couple of others.  Then I am ready for the onslaught of monthly titles I'll get from my assigned studios.

I watched another NCIS episode. This one had a Navy beauty pageant contestant found with her head stuffed down a toilet. Intriguing episode, the one where McGee has to chase a perp through a car wash (which was used the next season in the opening credits).

I got the OK to begin on MY NAME IS EARL tomorrow (on Blu-ray). I didn't watch the final season of the show, so this will be a treat to get to see these episodes now and in the best possible quality.

I'm sure most of you have heard of the 70th Anniversary release of Wizard of Oz. There is a one-night showing of the restored film at 400 theatres around the country on September 23 at 7pm. We have known about it for a while but tonight Anthony thought he might want to see it. We found the list of theatres and there is not one in Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens or Staten Island. There are 4 on Long Island and 2 or 3 in the Bronx but to our suprise every single theatre is sold out and has been sold out since the event was announced over two weeks ago! We are very surprised. I never thought that every single theatre on Long Island and in the Bronx would be full. Oh, well. Anthony won't be seeing the movie. I couldn't go anyway because I'm seeing Wishful Drinking that night.

I did not hear about the one night showing of it. Where does one look up if its in ones neighborhood

No matter how many times one has seen it on TV, nothing quite prepares you for the thrill of seeing OZ on the big screen. I used to go to MGM children's matinees back in the 70s and 80s when they showed it. The prints weren't always great, but I still found it thrilling to see.

Well tomorrow I have an appointment to see a vascular surgeon and Tuesday I have an appointment with an orthopedist. I hope between the two of them a solution will be found for my constant pain. I see how people can get hooked on pain killers if they have to live with this day in and day out. I am not taking anything for the pain but just resting which seems to alleviate the discomfort.

Best of luck and wishing you get definitive diagnoses and viable and speedy solutions!!

There's one in Central Park.  I sent Jose the info from Facebook!  And e-mailed it to you-- I think it's the 29th!
