It was a long day at the St James, which housed two Rodgers and Hammerstein shows, OKLAHOMA! and FLOWER DRUM SONG. The morning was really unnecessary for me because it was mostly taken up with squeezing 23 players into the orchestra pit. We had to lose two timpani to accommodate the two horn players and Josh Clayton, the string synth player, is back in the orchestra's green room with a tv monitor. The sond man also spent some time setting up mikes and having the various players run sections of the score for him. When we got back from lunch, we ran the cues we'd never played before and then ran Act one. It was a work session so we'd run a few pages of dialogue and a number, go back and work things, and continue. A lot of time was spent on the magic tricks that Og the leprechaun has to perform. some of them are very funny. It was a good day; I love David Schramm as Senator Rawkins; he reminds me a bit of Foghorn Leghorn.
