A major online retailer has just sent me a SECOND copy of the WIZARD OF OZ set, and the invoice shows no charge.  Color me majorly confused--is this a birthday present?  :)  I'll have to call them and find out what's up.

Don't look a gift horse-of-a-different-color in the mouth.

Back from my 2 grantwriter meetings in Dayton - my presentation went well once I convinced the IT guy that, yes, I really did need an internet connection and, no, I wasn't going to corrupt their network.  Sheesh, they ought to take a look at some of the places that laptop had visited before I ever touched it  :o

BK,

Thank God!  There is somebody else out there who does not think that BRAVEHEART is the greatest thing since chopped liver.  I never really cared for it that much and only have it in my DVD library because it won "Best Picture".  [I was hoping that BABE would win that year.]

ROB ROY was released the same year and, I think, it's a much better movie.

Druxy, I agree Rob Roy much better than Braveheart.

We had a very good runthru of Act Two this afternoon. My fixes all sound good. The only ones I have yet to hear are in the Curtain Calls, and I should hopefully hear them tomorrow afternoon.

I keep wishing that FlashPoint and FlashForward had titles that were more distinct.           :P

I had read FlashForward completely forgetting there is a show called Flashpoint.

Ya know, DAW, they're completely different words....Flashpoint is the temperature at which something explodes or when liquid ignites

Flashforward is a jump ahead in time...with the word "forward" being the key....;)

What, JRand?  No "The Biggest Loser"?  This may be the night karma gets the better of Stacy who alienated everyone last week.

The southern songwriter who almost gets the show is based on Claibe Richardson of THE GRASS HARP. Claibe knew the author.

We saw him at Aryeh's funeral.  Maybe you've forgotten we don't go to P'nai Or anymore.  Their education program was a shambles for years and we needed to get Gabe into something better to prepare for his Bar Mitzvah, so we started going to Shir Tikvah several years ago.  We still have lots of friends at P'nai Or, though.

Good Evening!

Well... My phone call turned into an email.  There were a couple of important points, facts and figures that needed to be presented "in writing", or at least written down by somebody. I did not want to leave any room for error, misunderstanding, mis-hearing, nor misinterpretation. Just waiting for a response now.  In any case...

THANK YOU FOR ALL THE VIBES!!

And may they have plenty of calamine lotion.

I believe they prefer aloe.

DR George,

When you said that your library never had late fees. Did you mean for everyone or just for employees?

My library has late fees (it is something like $2 a day for dvds). But it does not apply to people who work at the library. I don't like this rule, because twice it's happened that librarians took out dvds that other people had reserved and they did not bring them back (and i'm not talking one day late).

The fines are for everyone, including staff.  We had never charged ANY late fines before this...just for lost or damaged items.  And if a lost item was paid for and returned within a year, the patron could get his/her money back for the replacement cost (not the late fees)!  This still applies, so that's good.  Click HERE for a .pdf of FAQs for our new fines.

WHAT?!?! Your library never had any late fees?  REALLY!?!?

That's just crazy talk.

DR Jane: re: the flu shot.

My sister mentioned that here they are doing 2 flu shots this year. One for the swine flu in oct/nov and then the regular flu shot in january.

I still have not heard when they are starting the shots for my area. I need to check that out.

January, when does flu season begin there?  It seems kind of late.

I just heard a similar thing on the news here in NYC, however, some areas will start receiving the vaccine for the "regular" flu in November.  Alas, as with all flu vaccines, they are meant to prevent the previous version of the flu.  I'm wondering if receiving both the H1N1 and the "flu" vaccines within a certain amount of time could possibly affect the effectiveness of either one.

*The big battleground right now here in New York State is that the State has mandated that all healthcare workers must receive the H1N1 shot - even if they normally don't get the yearly flu shots - and this year's regular flu vaccine will not be mandatory.  There is talk that some doctors, nurses and internists could end up being fired for refusing to receive the vaccine that they are supposed to administer.  Talk about a "gray area".
