Looks like Elton John is having a bit of a rough go right now:

AP - Elton John has been hospitalized after suffering from a case of E. coli bacterial infection and the flu, his spokesman said Monday.

I do remember when the new forum came in and all the brouhaha that it brought with it. SOme of us (including me) were thrilled we could post avatars, post pictures, work toward "God" status, etc. Others were upset about the change of format and were annoyed about being taken from their comfort zones.

And remember "karma"? THAT was fun! NOT!

I was one who initially had difficulty being taken from my comfort zone.  I fortunately also had Keith here to move me forward with the new format.

I missed the cute little Karma fairy when she was gone.  I did not miss how she was abused.

I do not miss all the begging for karma...."Oh, I broke a fingernail!  Could I have some karma, PLEASSSSSE!?

That was my idea of "abuse".

Abuse was the way/reasons it was given, and the way/reasons it was taken.  Giving vibes is so much more supportive & meaningful.

As for your first post-lol it is sooo you :)  Hmmm, after all this time do you think baby Sari is not of his loins? ;)

I don't think he had any contact with Katie...but he might have made a donation in a fertility clinic.

I too should have saved the date of my first post.  It was around the 4th day of this site (???)

Very short version:

I suggested DR Penny look Bruce up when she was in L.A.

Once in L.A. Penny called for his phone number which I gave her.

Thinking she might also want his work number, & knowing his work number had changed I went on-line to find the new number and found HHW instead.

On that particular day Bruce happened to mention his interest in meeting a certain child actress.  Since I've known this actress since 4th grade I could not resist commenting. :)

I am home

I am sick.

And I am not happy.

Just pop in your copy of HD Moods: Fire and I'm sure you'll feel better.  ;)

If only I had a copy.

Thank you all for your concerns.  I have too many things to do this week to be sitting around being sick.  If i can manage to get showered and then dressed, I will go and get some Hot and Sour soup.  My doctor calls it a miracle cure.

I tried it several years ago, when the doctor first suggested it, and it seemed to work well.  Probably because you sweat the germs out of your body.  I just remembered that the Chinese Restaurant where I used to buy it, is no longer in business.  So, I may settle for buying juice at Safeway, and hope that they have some chicken noodle soup, Hot, in the Deli.

Unfortunately watermelon is no longer in season.  I  think it works better than anything else I have tried.  I haven't tried hot & sour soup so I can't compare the two.

Today, is an anniversary, of sorts, for you DR Jane!  Your first post to this newly formatted HHW was 6 years ago today:

Hi, I'm back.  Just returned from another "fun" trip to LA.

This is my first time posting on the new site and I must admit I'm a bit confused.  I'm on the candy discussion but is there a main location to post?

No candy for me.  This is the first year I have ever missed Halloween.  I feel much better for not having over indulge.  I did miss seeing the children in their costumes.

Did I miss any big news?

:D

And, in just under two weeks, you'll have another anniversary marking 8 years posting to HHW.com.  Here is your first post ever:

Bruce, If you want to get in touch with Susan Gordon, give me a call or write. Keith & I are still good friends with her. I have known Susan since 4th grade.

On October 22, 2003, I posted this:

Quote
Ask BK Day:

Oh, where did the good times go?  (OH! a Sherman Brothers reference)! !

I'm not referring to the site, of course, this is sleek and fabulously put together, just like our host!!!!

I, too, was on the old board, courtesy of an invitation from BK himself, whom I had communicated with on rec.arts.theatre.musicals and various and sundried emails.

On September 12, 2002, I had an online interview with BK published, which may be accessed here:
http://www.dvdlaunch.com/firstnudiemusicalinterview.html

The review of the FIRST NUDIE MUSICAL dvd can also be found on that site:
http://www.dvdlaunch.com/firstnudiemusicalse.html

I did finally get to meet BK face-to-face on a marvelous New York weekend in October of 2004.

Good Afternoon, once again.

Well... At least I took out a good ole yellow pad and started writing down some notes.

I've also been assisting Steve - via SMS and MMS - with possible travel options for one of his nephews.  He's currently stationed in Aberdeen, MD, and he's waiting to see if his leave will be approved.  Thankfully, Amtrak's Northeast Corridor trains will stop in Aberdeen if requested, and he'll have a direct trip down to Richmond (and back).

Otherwise, I think I'm going to take a nap. I just feel I need one.

How do you find out when you first posted at this site?  MY profile says october 21,2003, but that was the first post on this new site.  Is there any way to go back in time farther than this?

First post on this board (as dorky as ever):

Good Lord!  Will there be graduate studies available in HHW posting?  It all looks so wonderful.  If we just had a Joe Allen's and a 7-11, we could all live here forever.  Maybe I shouldn't be trying to figure all this out while I am on Vicadin.

If I could live anywhere, it would have to be Manhattan.  There is no other place like it on earth.

Something from my childhood:  All those damn original baseball and football cards I had  and later threw away.

Well, through the wonders of Google, I was able to track down my first post on HHW.

The Date: September 3, 2002
The Title of Notes: "Out of the Loop"
The Topic of the Day: "Roll Call"

And here I was:

Quote
Well, this will be my first time posting here, so I guess I officially become a lurker now - an upgrade(?) from just a reader. ;-)

My name is Jose C. Simbulan. I am fortunate enough to make my living as a professional musician - pianist/keyboard player/musical director/conductor. I most recently had the honor of playing rehearsals for the Kennedy Center's Sondheim Celebration productions of SWEENEY TODD and A LITTLE NIGHT MUSIC. Upcoming projects include EVITA for a local university, CARMEN JONES at the Kennedy Center, and SOUTH PACIFIC at Arena Stage

I work locally (D.C. and Richmond) and regionally - pick a region, any region. One of my specialties is playing auditions - I LOVE to play auditions. Each Spring and Fall I get to indulge that pleasure by playing for the Southeastern Theatre Conference (SETC) auditions, and the Unified Professional Theatre Auditions (UPTA). There's nothing like playing for 200-300 in one day! -Really, I do like to do this. *I'll be in Charlotte this weekend for the Fall SETCs.

For all you singers out there: Train your pianists!

For all you pianists our there: Train your singers!

I must take this chance to thank BK for all his work on those UNSUNG MUSICALS and LOST IN BOSTON albums. Wonderful material, and they've provided many an opportunity for me to work on my transcription skills as singers have requested material from those albums for auditions, cabarets, etc. *I was always hoping some publishing deal could be worked out in conjunction with those albums... ah, well...

It has been a joy reading everyone's posts - not just today, but for the past couple of months - ever since I first decided to head on over to this site. Hopefully, I'll find myself fully in the loop in no time!

Keep up the great work!

*Oh, and how does one go about bolding and italicizing within the posts?

The Date: May 26, 2003
The Title of the Notes: "Pheasant Under Glass"
The Topic of the Day: "If you could go back in a time machine and rub elbows and sup with anyone of your choice, who would it be and why? I’ll be back in a bit after I figure out how to eat pheasant under glass."

I hope you will forgive the intrusion of a newcomer, but I only recently stumbled upon this website by accident, while trying to locate an address for Mr. Jerry Herman. I have been doing my best to go through the archives and read all of Bruce’s postings, as well as the responses from all of you, before attempting to put in my two cents worth (the check’s in the mail). As a result, I feel like I know you all a little, which is more than I can say about any of my neighbors in this building that I have lived for two years. What a wonderful mix of topics you all explore: life in New York, Broadway, theater, television, movies, food, language. In other words, you cover everything that life holds dear. Anyway, feel free to tell me to butt out, if I am intruding on a private party.

As for today’s topic, it is interesting that Jason should mention the Titanic, because that was the first thing I thought of when I read the topic. I have always been fascinated with the Titanic, and have read just about everything ever written about it. I even went out to the site of the disaster, back in ’96, when RMS Titanic, Inc. was first attempting to raise the section of the hull. We had a wonderful variety of passengers onboard, including Mr. Buzz Aldren, Ms. Loni Anderson, and one of the last remaining survivors, Mrs. Eleanor Johnson Schuman, who has since passed away. I even flew to New York, several years ago, strictly to see the first preview of "Titanic,The Musical." That night, the preview was full of technical glitches, about a half dozen extra songs, and some God-awful epilogue involving Robert Ballard. But, I knew even then that it was one fantastic show.

Anyway, as much as I would have loved to sit down and shared a jug with Mrs. J.J. Brown (Molly) on that fateful night at sea, I would choose instead, to beam myself onboard the ship, Californian, sitting a few short miles from the Titanic when it hit the iceberg. If nothing else, I would have awakened the ship’s Morse operator, gotten him to turn the spark back on to find out why a ship was firing distress signals in the middle of an empty ocean, and possibly gotten the Captain to save a few hundred additional souls from drowning.

Also interesting that Micheal should mention Lincoln, since the Titanic hit the iceberg on the anniversary of the night Lincoln was shot, and sank on the anniversary of his death.

Whew, sorry I rambled on so. Please, forgive me. I think you are all terrific.

Back from having my blistered & calloused feet treated.  One of my toes was, indeed, infected, so he took care of that and Richard is now at the pharmacy getting my antibiotic.  I suspected as much, because the wear and tear that always occurs in NYC usually clears up within a few days of my return.  This was unusual and I'm glad Richard convinced me that a visit to the podiatrist was in order.
