DR edisaurus - I already download the weekly TAL's.  However, I still prefer to listen to them from the comfort or my bed and my comforter on Sunday mornings. ;)

And I think many of us love this with all our hearts:

Hooray for Hollywood, that screwy, bally hooey Hollywood.
Where any office boy or young mechanic can be a panic with just a looking pan.
And any barmaid can be a star maid if she dances with or without a fan.

Hooray for Hollywood where you're terrific if you're even good.
Where anyone at all from Shirley Temple to Aimee Semple is equally understood,
Go out and try your luck, you might be Donald Duck! Hooray for Hollywood.

Hooray for Hollywood, that phony super Coney, Hollywood.
They come from Chillicothes and Paducahs with their bazookas to get their names up in lights.
All armed with photos from local Rotos with their hair in ribbons and legs in tights.

Hooray for Hollywood, you may be homely in your neighborhood,
But if you think you can be an actor, see Mr. Factor, he'd make a monkey look good.
Within a half an hour, you look like Tyrone Power! Hooray for Hollywood!

I didn't know you were a fan, DR Jane.   Every time she's on camera in "Castle", she lights up the TV screen!  She's very natural and nicely matched as Fillion's daughter.

Good morning, all! I'm checking in to let you know I am not dead and to disappoint my critics. I do not feel terrible, but my head is clogged up, and I am so hoarse I cannot speak a sentence.

I think my favorite Johnny Mercer lyrci may be "My Shining Hour."

Keith & I are both fans and agree with you that she lights up the tv screen :)

Good morning (or afternoon), all.  I think it's been raining all night!  It's certainly been raining all morning...at least, for as long as I've been awake.  It's about time.

Well, today I have to go to work for a few hours, then tonight's theatrical outing is a local production of a two-person version of The Turn of the Screw.  I've been hearing nothing but absolute raves.  I've done shows with both the actors, so I'm very excited to see this.  It's being presented at The Midnight Sun, which is a tiny performance space that holds about 40 people, at the most.  It's very intimate and for a show like this, it should be the perfect space. :)

I actually kind of liked SWING VOTE.  Not a great film by any measure, but good performances and one which didn't answer the ultimate question at the end, which I really liked.

BK & I don't agree on a lot of movies, but on this one I've got to ageee with him.

Anyone who loves Mercer's lyrics owes it to themselves to buy Robert Kimball's beautiful book:

http://www.randomhouse.com/catalog/display.pperl?isbn=9780307273222

And I heartily recommend Ben Bagley's MOSTLY MERCER cd:

Actually he just distributed the album, but since he didn't pay the royalities it was pulled from him and is now being distributed by others

I just spoke to him, very briefly, and he's so hoarse he can't really talk. We won't be getting together tomorrow after all.

Hope it passes soon dear friend.

There's a lot of great mercer songs

He did some great ones with Mancini.
Some wonderful ones with Arlen
There are enjoyable ones with Hoagy Carmichael
And some unsuspecting good ones with Barry Manilow
and even with himself as composer he wrote some okays songs. These in my opinion they are not strong musically as the songs he wrote with other composers.
