Thanks for the Mabel Todd photo, DR EDISAURUS.

I can't believe I have forgotten to mention a few more favorites.

Of course DR CP reminded me of Irene Dunne.....OMG THE AWFUL TRUTH....."Hey.....wait a minute.  Don't anybody leave, I've lost ma purse!"

And Marie Dressler!

TCM had several of her films on yesterday.....she was so funny.  And the films she made with Polly Moran all have moments of high hilarity.

Which also made me think of Miss Martha Raye.  Miss Jean Harlow in DINNER AT EIGHT and PERSONAL PROPERTY and LIBELED LADY......

And of course Mae West.

My DN David could use more vibes.  He's been back in and out of the hospital and goes in tomorrow for more tests.

And now I'm off to the Museum of Natural History to help - brave - a crowd of school children who are going on a scavenger hunt.
...

On purpose?

Not only on purpose, but also basically on the fly!

I noticed a Tweet from Doug - a.k.a. The Big Gay Ice Cream Truck Man - saying that he was volunteering at the American Museum of Natural History today.  There were lots of kids, but not that many adults.  So, I tweeted back asking if they needed more chaperones, and he texted me back: "Come on down!"  So, I did.

Of course, once I got there, the whole student to adult ratio had increased.  In fact, in our group, it ended up being one-to-one: four kids, four adults.  They had broken each of the school groups into smaller groups, and then New York Cares assigned a couple of adult volunteers to each group.  However, since we were watching over a group of third-graders, the one-to-one ratio was a good thing.  ;)

They were actually great kids. There were some "trouble spots" during the day, but they were kids just being kids.  No one got hurt, no one cried (well, one girl almost started to cry), and they all gave us big hugs when we left.  I really had a wonderful time.  *And not only was it nice getting into the museum for free, but they also gave each group a bunch of vouchers for lunch in the museum cafe!

See above. ;)

*The three men - myself included - in the back row made up the BGICT contingent (LtoR Doug, Me, Bryan) - although, today, we were actually helping out Ralph Lauren (Bryan's company). The women on the far right, Karen, was our fourth.

**And, just in case any is curious, the other gentleman in the picture is named Robert.  ;)

On Tuesdays I work with a senior choir which I take to various and sundried retirement homes.  Today I arrived early and was thumbing through some ancient Reader's Digest Condensed Books.  One from 1962 had a book with pictures called "The Joy of School."  One of the pics was a little kindergarten male and the caption was a quote from him:  "When I grow up will I be a boy or a girl?"  I of course thought of many of you.  ;)

I never had any doubt.  And I knew what I liked, too.

After the kids headed back to school, the volunteer coordinator from New York Cares thanked all of us for coming out today, and filled us in on some of the other programs that they run.  I'm pretty sure I'll be attending one of their volunteer briefings in the near future. :)

Woody thinks?  Do we even know if Woody is still alive?  How do we know you haven't done away with him and truned him into little meat pies (or I guess that would be big meat pies)?  When was the last time the real Woody posted on this here site?

I also loved Charlotte Rae on CAR 54 WHERE ARE YOU? I never saw her series where she was the housemother, only lots of parodies of it.

Tomorrow I am meeting some friends with whom I used to work at the Dept of Labor.  We are having lunch and doing some flea marketing.  It is always nice to get together.  Some of the others have since retired and others are still toiling away.

They say there is news about some who are no longer there......so we shall see what tomorrow brings.

I think DR JMK should post a photo of the exterior of the house so we can all post our opinions.  Of course we can post our opinions without seeing the outside of the house, but he might want to at least offer the pretense.

In other news, I got Blu-Rays of Up, Logan's Run, and Keaton's The General (which I'm very interested to see).  The big package I was expecting didn't arrive - maybe domani.

I thought you got the Blu-Ray of Up Logan's Run; which could have put an entirely different slant on LOGAN'S RUN
