*And it's always puzzled me whenever I order an egg salad sandwich - or tuna or chicken salad sandwich for that matter - and it's prepared with additional mayo on the bread.

yuck

Nothing ruins a great egg salad sandwich like dried out bread.

Exactly!  And if the bread is fresh and not dried out, then it would not need any extra mayo!  -And mayo on dried out bread is still "mayo on dried out bread".

This morning was quite fun.  I got to go through the new office space with the painter again.  We made a few changes to our previous plan and I really can't wait to see it when it's done.  The carpenter has recovered from his flu and was there haning drywall in the waiting room area.

DN David saw his cardiologist today and will be having more detailed tests on Tuesday.  He is apparently in a lot less pain today so that's a good thing

Great news!

Count me amongst those who prefer extra mustard over extra mayo on their egg/chicken/tuna salad sandwiches.

My question for Ask BK Day is actually for DR Elmore.

Dear DR Elmore,
When you arrange a song, do you hear all the parts in your head at once? Or do you have to try them all out one at a time?

It's even more complicated than you could imagine, DR Laura; I sort of hear them as I see them written on the score paper.  It's a very abstract way of working. At times I feel like a spiritualist doing "automatic writing," as though something takes over and say "this is what you hear," and at other times I wait for something to come along and say "you have to put down something." So you do, and hope it can be fixed in rehearsal.

Happy Veterans Day to those who served in the military!

Ask BK:

What was it like working with Lauren Bacall on her duet with Brent?

Kevin

While I've heard horror stories about Miss Bacall, my experience with her was fantastic.  A real pro, easy to work with, she even took direction perfectly.  I also had a fantastic dinner with her and Brent and it was a pretty great and fun session.

Larry, is it a given that there will be an arranger in the loop between the composer and yourself?  Is there much overlap between the arranging and the orchestrating? Or does it just all depend?

Busy but fun day.  All-region Blu is hooked up and working fine.  As long as I only run region B Blu-Rays, I don't have to enter or reset any codes, so that's easy.  Tape transfers went great - as it turns out the composer had done an album mock-up and we're using that, so that whole thing suddenly became very easy indeed.  Then I had a sandwich and now I'm home and ready to finish Logan's Run.
