This afternoon, I went to see a local college production of "Bent."  Wow!  Talk about powerful.  Only one of the leads really had much experience, but all the main leads were very good.  I teared up several times during the show.  They got a very deserved standing ovation.

Hi DR elmore-

I was wondering--any plans for a cast album of Finian's?

Oy! I only know there's talk of recording the show.

It would be a shame if Finian's Rainbow isn't recorded, especially with such a great cast.

I would agree with you and I think the recording would be great show publicity. I don't know what's causing the holdup but i have my thoughts which I will keep to myself.

I saw Richard Gere and the original Broadway cast.  I haven't seen the film, but i think it's a play actors like because it has great roles. Do I think it's a good play? No. I think it's a success with gay audiences because of its subject and with actors because of the roles.  I think it's a false play because the leading character is a survivor and spends the whole play doing everything to survive. He'd come out of that camp as a survivor not a corpse who finds love in a concentration camp and dies for it. The original production had a great cast and it was amazing but I still don't think it's a  good play.

DR George, alfter all my bitching about the play, I forgot to add that I am glad you enjoyed it. It has great moments.

I finished all of the bonus features for A CHRISTMAS TALE. Truth to tell, there weren't many for a Criterion two disc release. If the movie hadn't been so long, they could have gotten all of this on one disc.

The other major bonus feature was a 36-minute interview with the director and two of the movie's stars talking about making the film and the two actors talking about what it's like working for the director.

There was also the original trailer and the American release trailer.

Next, I finished 30 ROCK which I had started at lunch. Mr. Cheyenne Jackson didn't appear at all this week, and though there were a few laughs, the show was the poorer without him.

Next I watched this week's FLASH FORWARD. Some good backstory on the suicidal doctor and the "girl of his dreams." Funny seeing Bryan F. O'Byrne with a mostly full head of hair after seeing him in THE INTERNATIONAL last night with a mostly bald head.

I followed this with this week's GHOST WHISPERER. The episode was very kid-centric this week, and since I'm not a fan of Melinda's five year old son, the show didn't delight me. The parents were very touching, and the fear Melinda and Jim had when Aiden was missing was wonderfully acted. I hope they keep Aiden on the back burner for much of the season. I'm already tired of him.

Next I watched last night's THE MENTALIST rerun. I had seen the episode when it ran last season, but I did not remember Van Pelt's lawyer friend ended up playing more of a role in the show than I suspected. I was fooled all over again.

I ended my evening with DEXTER. A very intense Thanksgiving episode. John Lithgow will surely get an Emmy nomination for his guest appearances as Trinity. Overall, I am liking the season more than last season (still doesn't stack up to season two, however).

Wow, I didn't realize it was considered wrong to disagree with what people complain about here on HHW.

I've removed the offending post as a sign that i intended to start a discussion rather than cast aspersions, but it's been quoted so i guess it remains unless that person removes the quote from me.

I guess I'm dense because I didn't pick up anything like that.  Of course we're allowed to disagree with each other.  And we often do.  Just like any family.

I'm also confused by FJL's post, especially if it's in response to what I thought was obviously a joke on my part.  Of course, I am used to people not thinking my jokes are funny.  Like that one in the previous sentence.  :)

DR Jose,

PM me your mailing address as a precaution. I forgot to look earlier today to see if I had it, but if you want me to put the package in the mail in the morning, I must have your address.

The Citroen driven by The Mentalist was red when it was featured in SPEED RACER, the movie.  I think the late 1950's Citroen cars were most handsome.
