2. The bank (which owns the property) is saying the pool is as-is, except that no one will underwrite a loan unless we determine all the pumps, etc. are in working order.

Actually those appraised just about at what I paid for them. I think the real value is in the loan document signed by her. Does anyone need a ready made Frances Farmer archive--it's going cheap, $645,900.

It also turns out we can't really inspect the septic system since the house has been unoccupied for so long. The "good" news (relatively speaking) is that even if we need an entirely new system, with the attendant filtration field, it's "only" 10K. Funny how in a deal like this 10K sounds like chicken feed.

I will buy the archive if I win the PowerBall on Wednesday, but I will have to get my bookshelves fixed. I was just reading Frances' letter to Wes on the Tribute site - the one she wrote when she "left" the TV station for good in September of 1964. Wonder what kind of settlement she ended up with? She seems to say she has the basis of a lawsuit if her terms are met....

I believe David told me (or maybe it's in Edith's book) that she never followed up on a lawsuit. If she had gotten a settlement, I doubt there would have been a Greenbrier.

I know Edith talked about hearing the executives talking while she relaxed on the lanai at her hotel......Jean didn't waste any time jumping on the bandwagon, but the letter to Wes makes it seem like there was at least a friendship there already, and Jean and Frances and the animals planning a trip to Florida after Christmas....

Just after visiting Jean's home plantation in Virginia no doubt, before it was sold for a pittance and turned into a hotel. Must have been why Jean's mom Lucy worked at the Link-Belt Plant over on Shadeland Avenue.

My first 3-D was COMIN' AT YA which inaugurated the revival of the 3-D craze in the early 1980s. It was then that theaters began booking a lot of the 1950s 3-Ds between engagements of new 3-D movies. That's when I saw HOUSE OF WAX, GORILLA AT LARGE, DIAL 'M' FOR MURDER, CREATURE FROM THE BLACK LAGOON. I kept hoping they'd book KISS ME KATE, but none of them ever did even though I requested it.

Before I left for lunch, I watched last week's THE OFFICE. It was a very funny episode. I really enjoyed seeing Jim put Ryan in his place.

When I got in from lunch, the Blu-ray of IT'S ALWAYS SUNNY IN PHILADELPHIA: A VERY SUNNY CHRISTMAS had arrived, so instead of having a day off, I went ahead and watched it.

It's hysterical. I've never seen a second of the series, but this Christmas special with these lunatics was hilarious. There is one segment where the characters evolve into the old Rankin-Bass claymation cartoon as they hack Danny DeVito to pieces. Priceless.

Then I noticed that last night's THREE RIVERS was already up on HD Showcase on Demand, so I watched that. Good episode and some excellent backstory on Andy's earlier life and ties to crooks.

I finished the afternoon watching some of THE 39 STEPS on TCM-HD. I had just watched the DVD a couple of months ago, so it didn't hold my interest all that well. I did notice that TCM-HD is showing the original 1934 version of THE MAN WHO KNEW TOO MUCH, and since I haven't seen it in quite some time (off an old public domain VHS tape that I own), I have set it to record so I can see it the best it can look. Maybe that'll help me like it more.

I keep telling everyone on this site how fantastic and utterly insane this series is. Season Two is the weakest, I think, because they were still fitting Danny deVito into the mix, and Seasons One, Three and Four run the gamut of hilarity and rudeness, from parodies of AMERICAN IDOL to musical theatre. Season Two is still very funny and I'm amazed at the things they pull off. I think the one I laughed the hardest over was the one where Danny DeVito kept setting his daughter Dee on fire during a desperate attempt to make her a heroine on the local news.

I did my early errand and upon my return, I had an e-mail re the Holy Grail release - said e-mail gave me an instant headache - it was from the guy who's actually the head of it all, so that was good, and I simply picked up the phone and called him and we spent thirty minutes going over each and every note, coming to terms on each, and now I am implementing all the changes, hopefully for the final time. It almost looked like we would have to change our master, but in the end he was nice and said he did not want me to incur that expense, which was very thoughtful. I'm now praying we can be approved by tomorrow or certainly before everyone goes away for Thanksgiving, especially since everything was agreed to on the phone and the changes, while I disagree with some of them, are all text-related and I'm just doing them.

Kroger was very busy this afternoon, but I was able to get everything for what we're cooking for Thanksgiving dinner except the turkey. We've ordered a fresh one from our favorite butcher shop and will pick it up Wednesday. We only have to do the turkey & stuffing, green beans, sweet potatoes, and gravy. Others are bringing everything else.

Tomorrow, I work on the house!
