Thanksgiving morning greetings!  Our turkey went in the oven precisely at the stroke of 9 and now we're watching the Broadway performances on NBC.  Bye Bye Birdie:P

I missed it. Was Bill Irwin there?

I did see Cheyenne Jackson perform.

Oh well.....if it wasn't SUPPOSED to be a comedy, then I feel a lot better about it.

Bookshelves are repaired, standing straight again, and re-loaded with all the important material, although I don't think it's in the same order.  I will know when I go to look for something.

Good afternoon. We are here on Long Island and I did a half hour on the treadmill in anticipation of Thanksgiving Dinner.

We arrived yesterday and had a nice dinner of chicken cutlets with peas and rice.

Then Anthony and I went to the library and then to Wal-Mart. Then we came home and had some chocolate ice cream (another reason for the treadmill this morning) I tinkered on the computer and then went to bed around 10:30. The others didn't go to bed until after 1 am. I was up at 6:45 (the latest I've slept on a weekday in months!). I had coffee, blueberry pancakes and read the Daily News and Newsday. The others did not get up until about 9:45am.

I am shaved and showered and awaiting Anthony's departure from said shower so we can begin to wrap presents for my niece and nephew. We will mail them to Minnesota tomorrow and then go visit a friend.

It's been a very nice beginning to my vacation and I still have a few days off before the big volunteer crunch. I plan on relaxing as much as I can. I must admit I checked my work e-mail and there is nothing in my box so I will resist checking it for most of the rest of the time off, except once or twice to clean out spam. Even though we have a "spam" program on the server I get an inordinate amount of spam in my work e-mail box.

Bye for now.

Oh, that was just my opinion---sorry. It just seemed like a drama about stand up comedians with humor coming from the routines and occasional funny life moments. But I remember going into the theatre thinking it would a comedy and found it to be pretty dark and gut-wrenching but still enjoying it very much.

Whenever I think of childhood Thanksgiving memories I get a mental image of the case of gallon jugs of Italian Swiss Colony Muscatel keeping cool on the winding stairs leading up from our kitchen.

Probably the most memorable Thanksgiving for me would whichever one we travelled to Portland for when I was a kid, and I came down with a horrible illness which included a terrible ear ache.

Otherwise, all other Thanksgivings were quite nice and uneventful, as far as I can recall.

LATIMES
Quote
At Germany's Schwerin Zoo, keeper Christina Schneider has been enlisted to act as a surrogate mother for Walli, a 3-week-old gibbon.  Walli's mother rejected him shortly after his birth, meaning that zoo staff have needed to step in to raise him themselves.

Toward that end, the baby receives bottle-feedings every two hours, according to the Daily Mail.  Zoo staff expect to care for him around the clock until he's about 6 months old, at which point they hope he'll be mature enough to live with the zoo's other gibbons.
...

And DR Laura thought the kittens were a chore!

I've already had three e-mails from the co-author of the long musical - I responded to one saying I was not available to read e-mails or have telephonic calls until next Monday.

Tell him the next communication you want is one stating that the rewrite is complete and ready for review.

All in a Word
- Aileen Fisher

T for time to be together, turkey, talk, and tangy weather.
H for harvest stored away, home, and hearth, and holiday.
A for autumn's frosty art, and abundance in the heart.
N for neighbors, and November, nice things, new things to remember.
K for kitchen, kettles' croon, kith and kin expected soon.
S for sizzles, sights, and sounds, and something special that abounds.

That spells - THANKS - for joy in living and a jolly good Thanksgiving.

I know this is totally off the subject, but since BK mentioned his disappointment with the transfer of Hamlet; i thought of his.

My most "interesting" Thanksgiving was one year when I was living in Santa Monica. I was cooking Thanksgiving dinner, but the plan was to then take it to a friend's house, where we'd all enjoy it. I was in the midst of cooking when the stove--an electric model-- "blew up." Apparently, there was a grease tray, which I'd never noticed, and some of the wires hit the grease and sent out fireworks. I took what I could to said friend's and we improvised the rest.
