My favorite movie in which John Wayne appears is HOW THE WEST WAS WON though it's hardly a John Wayne movie.

I have an honest-to-goodness day off today! Even if something comes in the mail, it won't be a pressing release and I can have "my day." I have several Blu-rays which have accumulated here over the last two weeks while I've been busy, so I plan to start on them this afternoon starting with ANGELS and DEMONS. This is #1 priority in my to watch Blu-ray stack.

With nothing on TV for me tonight. I plan to watch more high definition movies tonight, hopefully two of them if I can fit them in. Depends on their length. I'm SO looking forward to relaxing and watching movies without a pad and pen in my lap.

I know last night's CASTLE repeat got recorded (I'll watch it while I eat lunch), but I'm not sure I had anything else set to record. If there is nothing, I'll watch another SUPERNATURAL episode from the season four Blu-ray.

Nancy's obit was in the paper today. We had known this already, but her mother was California's Secretary of Education for many years. Also, in the small world department, she was born in Utah and graduated from the U of U like I did. I really wish I had talked to her more about her background--I'm certain now we must have had a lot of friends in common, despite her being 10 years or so older than I am.

I totally agree with you on EL DORADO, but I'm not particularly fond of RIO BRAVO either. It's far too long.

I once interviewed Howard Hawks, who said to me: "I'm not interested in telling stories. I'm interested in making good scenes."

I was definitely taken aback by that comment, but it sure offers a valid explanation as to why the director's later films are so poorly paced.

Finished FLIGHTS OF FANTASY - a very interesting book about SUPERMAN on radio and television. Lots of interesting information. Some interesting photos. Info on two SUPERMAN television scripts that were written but not filmed, and the differences between the scripts and what ended up on the screen.

Fun book for fans - written by Michael J. Hayde and available on Amazon.com.

I seem to remember Elmore disputed his hometownishness vis a vis Portland, but Marc Acito is being listed again as a Portland native with his piece "Holidazed" which is running here. It is getting pretty scabrous reviews on the "backstage" blogs full of theater cognoscenti. The Oregonian of course loved it. It was done here last year, too.

Doesn't he live in Portland now? He grew up in New Jersey.

Thanks to the bitchy office manager at the law office on Park Avenue and 54th, we are moving to Park and 23rd next week. We tossed out a lot of trash, inventoried a few items and finished in an hour. Now it's time to write a few orchestra parts for next week's rehearsals.
