Well, I bought the ready to bake cut out cookies and then frosted them.   The problem is I ate too many cookies and WAY too much frosting.  Bleh!

What exactly are "ready to bake cut out cookies"?

One of my favorite types of cookies for Christmas are made from scratch shortbread
cookies decorated with sprinkles.

Oh! I keep forgetting and Cilla's post  just reminded me -  the Vixter wants to bake home made cookies this year - she is asking of each of you to post yor favorite homemade cookie recipe - the only cookies I have ever made from scratch are thr Toll House cookies recipe from the back of the bag

Does she want to make The Mrs. Field's type chocolate chip cookies. They are
very good. I could post the recipe tomorrow.

Or is she more interested in Christmas type cookies?

I help my aunt bake cookies every year. Only she has most of the recipes.

DR Vixmom - my tried and true shortbread cut-outs:  Cream together 2 sticks butter (NOT margarine) and 1/2 cup light brown sugar.  Knead in about 2&1/2 to 3 cups flour until "rolling" consistency.  Roll about 1/4" thick, cut, and bake on an ungreased cookie sheet at 300o until golden brown.  Cool & decorate with icing, etc.

These take some practice, but are worth it.  You can bake them ahead and freeze for decorating later.  A great tradition at our house is to have a cookie decorating party with holiday visitors.

These sound good.  this year I will really miss going to Gretchen's to have a cookie decorating get together.  She and her sister are going to Oxaxa, Mexico fro about 3 weeks.  They are going to volunter at a center for street kids and go to a radish festival.  I get why she doesn't want to be home for Christmas so soon after Steve died, but I will really miss them.  I usually spend 1/2 my Christmas celebration with them

i remember your writing about these fun parties.

i hope gretchen has a good trip with her sister and returns with less pain in her heart.

thanks jennifer.  i know i need to br patient as the pain isn't going away soon.  i'm very, very grateful for the anti-nausea meds so i can take the pain meds. handle any pain.  the anti-inflammatory meds in my iv really helped the pain too.  unfortunately i can't handle those by mouth.

i'm eating fine so i'm pleased to say i have no appetite for the goodies mentioned, pleased as i'm not burning off calories, best i'm not tempted.  i know i'll get sick if i eat more than a couple of bites of junk food/sweets at a time.

Lots of TV on tonight including new episodes of BROTHERS & SISTERS, DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES, (as DR Jennifer noted) THE AMAZING RACE, and COLD CASE (now on at 9 p.m.) CBS has dropped THREE RIVERS from the schedule and is replacing it with reruns of their crime dramas until something else moves to Sunday nights at midseason.

Not to mention Sunday Night Football (Arizona vs Minnesota).

Yes, there are some folks here who watch such things.

After I got the bathroom cleaning done and the laundry put away, I headed back to the home theater for more viewing.

I began by finishing HERCULE POIROT'S CHRISTMAS which I had gotten near the end of but didn't quite finish. The denouement was a trifle extended by taking the suspects to another locale to unmask the murderer, but I guess that's what happens in the book. I honestly can't remember.

Next, I watched the 1970 SCROOGE on DVD, upconverted and looking pretty splendid. This transfer is still acceptable. Of course, I'd love to see it in high def one day, but there don't seem to be any Paramount stirrings about starting to release classics on Blu-ray. And when they do, it'll be those same ones they've recently remastered for DVD release in their Centennial Collection.

Next, I watched last week's FLASHFORWARD. A good half season finale to mix things up and leave the show on a cliff edge awaiting its return in March. Too long a hiatus for a show that had been losing audience, but nothing to be done about that now.

And I ended my season with tonight's penultimate episode of DEXTER, with the plot strands tightening wonderfully leading up to the season finale next week. Should be ripping good entertainment.

Shayne, one of two things happened: she either bought back the rights, or suggested they give them back since I don't believe she'd ever, once, received a royalty statement on that project, which is sort of breach of contract, I should think.

And I don't really like the cut out cookies. LOL. It just always seems like a good idea at the time.  I'll take them to work. Someone will eat them

Um. There's only two people where you work.

I'm going to head down in a few minutes and go to bed. I think I'll finally be going back to work tomorrow, so I'm excited to have something to do, even if it is a minor Disney animation project like G-FORCE.
