DH Richard and I returned from my birthday outing to Kenwood Towne Center to find a lighted Christmas tree in our family room picture window - thanks to Rob and Mary Linda, who arrived from Michigan this afternoon to join in the graduation festivities tomorrow.  They're out now picking up my birthday pizza from Shaddock's and we're going to watch  White Christmas while we eat.

I did get my "Yes, Virginia" Macy's gift card today, but nothing extra for it also being my birthday.  Went directly to the Bobbi Brown cosmetic counter to spend it and the clerk was thrilled that I was her "first Virginia" of the day.  When I told her it was my birthday, she gave me some samples packets of their face cream that I like so much.

We then explored the new Nordstrom and Vera Bradley stores, with, of course, a stop in the Apple store.  Didn't buy anything at any of those places, but had fun looking.

As for myself - well, I'm eating a dark chocolate-coated graham cracker from Williams Sonoma.

I had a sandwich and fries at noon.  I'll definitely need something sweet later.  It's been raining, ranging from light drizzle to pretty heavy.  But we really needed it.

Listening to our next release (the first of the two CDs we'll announce in about a week and a half) - so much fun.  It's a BIG film, if you get my meaning.

Obviously no one got their Elmer Bernstein CD today.  I suspect that our beloved USPS just let them sit on the loading dock until late last night.

After I finish "A Christmas Carol and A Child Is Born," I'm going to listen to The Manhattan Transfer's The Christmas Album from 1992.  Then, I'm going to listen to their CD, An Acapella Christmas (I have the original Japanese release).  And then I'll follow that with a home-made CD of the audio track to their live Christmas concert DVD. :D

A couple of days ago, I got some dark chocolate Reece's peanut butter cups and they were wonderful!  Not quite Williams-Sonoma, but still very good. :)

In my CD player right now:  A Christmas Carol and A Child Is Born, with music by Bernard Herrmann.

I wish I could figure out what I did with my copy of this CD.  I have been looking everywhere for it.

TCB, if you have Barnum's phone number can you call him and tell him to respond here or to my e-mail?

He has an unlisted phone number.  Well, at least it is unlisted for me.

Greetings. Back from another day of packing. We had a short day. We were actually done by 1:30 and we were home by 2:00. I then did the laundry while Anthony did some errands.

His father's shoehorn broke and it seems that the only two people in the world who use a shoehorn are Anthony's father and me. He has been looking for a shoehorn to get his father for Christmas. We went to shoe stores, men's clothing stores and other places but couldn't find anything (Anthony wants the long kind, not the short). Well, we finally found this place:

Manhattan Wardrobe Supply

on 29th Street. They have just what Anthony was looking for so he bought two. Now his father can have one shoehorn in the bedroom and another in the television room (where he often leaves his shoes when he puts his feet up on the couch). Mission accomplished. He then went to Bed, Bath and Beyond and bought one of those electronic counting jars. It has a lid with an electronic sensor which counts the change when you drop it in:

Coin Counter

We got home around the same time, had some dinner and watched some Family Feud. I then laid down for a nap at 6pm and got up at 7pm. I didn't want to go to bed then because I would probably then be up at 4:30 and I don't want to get up at 4:30 on Saturday morning. Anthony laid down at 6:30 and is still sleeping. It's 8:15 now and I will probably go to bed soon since it's been a long (but productive and fulfilling week).

No pictures to post but maybe I'll have more next week.

We continue working on Monday. We have a holiday party tomorrow afternoon and one on Sunday as well so it will be a festive weekend for us.

Don't we all!        ;)

My DH and I are also big proponents of shoe horns.  We found an online supplier of long plastic ones, and we have them strategically placed all around the house.

I spent much of the day at the dentist. Apparently, her evaluation last week was a bit too conservative; today she added replacing an old crown to our list. I believe it was on the expensive dentist's list, too. But my bill should still be considerably less than the original quote.

OK, what is it about CHICKEN and WAFFLES? Why that combination? I am at a loss (in HHW lingo, it is a puzzlement).

I don't get it either but then I still use a shoehorn and I watch Arthur.
