I just came back from the mall to help my aunt do some shopping.

The parking lot was very crowded. But more surprising was that there were no empty tables at the food court!

I watched Friday night's LAW & ORDER while I ate lunch. One of their most baffling cases, a very complex mystery with a number of suspects and some evidence but not enough to bring a case against any of them. And then when the answer finally came to light, wow, what a surprise!

And it was nice to see Benjamin Bratt back reprising his role as the former Detective Curtis.

Then I watched the end of the SUPERNATURAL episode I had started yesterday. This is one of my favorite episodes of the season as Dean gets a glimpse of the world potentially five years from now. Eye-opening from beginning to end.

Next, I laughed and cried my way through IT'S A WONDERFUL LIFE. How this movie could have been a box-office disappointment in its day I just don't know. Now it plays beautifully.

I think Wonderful Life being a disappointment is urban legend. From what I can see, it did fine at the box-office - not stellar, but I believe it made its money back and was up for awards.

I could swear Capra himself claimed it was a bust in his autobiography and helped put his Liberty FIlms production company out of business. I'll have to see if I can put my hands on the book and read that section again.

I noticed that ABC repeated a CASTLE episode on TV last nighty, and the DVR picked it up since I have it set to Season Play. THE MENTALIST is getting a repeat tonight, too, and I saw that it was also set to record.

I just watched a two part episode of LASSIE from the late 60s...it was one where Lassie's owner Corey Stuart, played by Robert Bray) is badly burned in a fire, and rangers Scott Turner (Jed Allen) and Bob Erickson (Jack De Mave) take Lassie (and the series). It was a real tear jerker.

Evidently, Bray had a bad drinking problem and they finally decided to let him go from the series.

This era of Lassie is what I remember watching as a kid, and I just love it and wish more episodes from this time period were available on DVD.

Oh....sad Lassie episodes are just terrible!

But I remember saying to myself while watching one of those 70's episodes when Lassie was on a motor boat with a man who fell and knocked himself out.... I said....if that dog brings that boat into the dock - I am never watching this show again. She did....and I haven't.

Just looking through the Complete Lyrics of Johnny Mercer, and, as always with these sorts of tomes, there are some really annoying things and silliness. First off, if you're calling a book "complete" where are the movie lyrics to It's A Typical Day (which differ from the stage version in several stanzas)? If it's there, I sure missed it. Then how about this howler for the Days Of Wine and Roses entry. Blake Edwards wanted a title song and suggested Days Of Wine and Roses - from the poem. Say what? Days Of Wine and Roses WAS the title, and had been the title long before Blake became involved - the piece began life as a live TV drama - yes the title is from a poem, but Blake hardly suggested it in the way they aver. How silly is that?

that is a lot of years to serve on a board. at some time will you have to take a break from the district board?

Yes. I just got elected last month for a three-year term. Then I'll go off that one after serving seven years, I think.
