SAG NOMINATIONS ANNOUNCED

On the TV side, "Glee," "Mad Men," "30 Rock," "Dexter," "True Blood" and "The Good Wife" were among the top nominees. The nominees for best actor in a drama series are Simon Baker for "The Mentalist," Bryan Cranston for "Breaking Bad," Michael C. Hall for "Dexter," Jon Hamm for "Mad Men" and Hugh Laurie for "House."

Nominations for best actress in a drama series went to Patricia Arquette for "Medium," Glenn Close for "Damages," Mariska Hargitay for "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit," Holly Hunter for "Saving Grace," Julianna Margulies for "The Good Wife," and Kyra Sedgwick for "The Closer." Because there was a tie, there were six nominees instead of the traditional five nominees in this category.

Competing for best ensemble in a drama series are the cast of "The Closer," "Dexter," "The Good Wife," "Mad Men" and "True Blood."

Seems DR MattH has some influence!

I think I will skip AVATAR, but I hope those who think they will enjoy it - enjoy it.

I have absolutely no interest in it at all, but I'll likely catch up with it, especially if I have to review it. Otherwise, I'll see it on HBO or some paycable channel when it eventually gets there.

The only one of those shows that I haven't watched at all is THE GOOD WIFE, and since it's on HD Showcase On Demand, I've been thinking about checking out a few episodes during my days off. We'll see, especially once I finish THE MENTALIST's first season on DVD.

One week before Christmas and, right on schedule, the blossums on my Christmas cactus plant are falling off.  I always envied Patricia Neal's Mother Walton character in THE HOMECOMING--her cactus blooms on Christmas Eve (as it should.)

Glad to see GLEE and MODERN FAMILY on the list of ensemble nominees for the SAG award for comedy series. Sorry that neither series generated any individual nominations for the cast though the shows truly are ensemble achievements.

Heading down now to get ready for lunch with friends. Then, I'll likely watch an episode of THE MENTALIST from the first season box set while waiting for my lunch ride to show up.

I also had a lack of theatre going experiences this year...but I hope to rectify that in 2010.

AVATAR does not look like a movie I would enjoy, but if I hear recommendations from other HHWers, then maybe I will check it out.

Last minute shopping thoughts:

MichaelTodd

Knú Anti-Aging Tri-Complex is the first cream in the US to include what Hendler and Todd claim is the next beauty breakthrough. The cream has a high concentration of snail secretion (purified, of course!), which has been proven to heal and renew skin, protect from free radicals, environmental pollution and UV radiation.

Don't be scared -- the cream smells nice, sinks right in and has a lovely texture. And no snails are harmed in the process (apparently the secretions are farmed from a snail farm in South America where they slither around out of harm's way).

Maybe DR Laura can concoct a formula with crawdad droppings.

Back from New Jersey, and, except for the horrid traffic, it was easy peasy.  In and out, no wait, $18, and I am now (or will soon be) protected against the H1N1.

While I awaited Memorex to figure my warranty return on our BD player, I grabbed a chance at a WalMart on-line special for a Magnovox BD player for $78 plus $0.97 shipping.

I ordered it on Monday, and the FEDEX site says it's on their truck in our neighborhood. :)
