I received Christmas cards from DR GEORGE and DR MBARNUM today.  DR MBARNUM also included a couple of Retro Christmas DVD's that I know I will enjoy.

Oooohh... The cast of Memphis just performed on "The View"... Alas, I'm guessing 11:58am - after a two-show day - may have been too early and too soon for a high-A. ::)

Has anyone else seen the TCM Remembers for this year?  It's a nice one, I have seen it twice, and don't remember seeing Michael Jackson.  Maybe he is there - anyone else see it yet?

My guess, if he's missing, is that they weren't about to pay a licensing fee and they didn't have an image available.

DR elmore - Ah, Otto Langey and his "Practical Tutor" series. I think I still have my copy of "The Saxophone" in my library/boxes.  They really are a nice series of books, and come in handy for anyone who has to "speed learn" an instrument as well as some musical fundamentals.

I believe there was an article in one of the MENC journals about him in the mid-90s.  Lemme see what I can find...

Anyhoo...

I think I'm dealing with some sort of sinus thing.  Again. Thankfully(?), it's just a headache, no runny nose or post-nasal drip to annoy me (yet?).  However, I'm still feeling a bit tired, fatigued even after quite a number of hours of sleep, and, initially, I thought I slept well.  ???

I may bundle up and head out for a brief walk around my 'hood, or I may just crawl back into bed for a few minutes... or hours.

Meh.

Sam have you gone apartment hunting at all?  It is very possible you can find something nicer for less money.  I’ve been told renters are bargaining for 2 months free rent.  With what you have been through I would want it in writing it is quiet at night ;)

Cilla, keep the fruit salad simple and plain, make it pretty by carving a fruit basket from a melon.

If you've ever wondered what goes on backstage right before the curtain goes up on the current revival of South Pacific, well...

5 Till Curtain

"A backstage webisode series filmed live from the dressing room of E (Eric Anderson) and Croix (Christian Delcroix) of Broadway's "South Pacific," every Wednesday through Saturday night from the '5 till curtain' call to 'places.'"

I awoke to a telephonic call that posed a question I really didn't want to answer and, in fact, didn't - the producer who's trying to get the Hofstetter books done as a series (again, I don't take any of this seriously until money crosses my palm or a contract) is so in love with the title character and her voice, she's really petrified of writers going off on their own and losing it or making it less unique.  And actually, she should be worrying about that for all the characters.  She's asked me to consider writing the first script if it were to happen.  I told her I'd have to think about it - I am not that interested, frankly, because I've written it already - she said she could pair me with someone else, but that interests me even less.  What I would, in fact, like and think would work best, is if this should ever be lucky enough to go to series or even if it's a pilot or a series of films, make me the executive producer or creative consultant - that way, I can make sure no one is screwing around with the voice of the characters.  But I will think about it.  I told her all anyone has to do is use the dialogue from the books, but if it's a stand-alone series, who knows if one of the three books would even be used for the first show.  I think that's her concern, but we'll meet and talk about it when we see what's happening.

I paid a call on Miss Jeanette today.  She had called earlier and inquired of my mom whether (1) I had arrived; (2) did I like pecan pie; and (3) did I like chicken and dumplings.

Lordy, lordy, lordy!  Yes, yes, yes.

I visited her shortly afterward and delivered her annual 3-lb box of See's candy.  Miss Jane (who is physically 64 years old, but mentally 12) was still abed (around 11:30 a.m.).  Miss Jeanette, who is roughly 87 years old, was polishing her kitchen countertops (butcher block style).  Her yappy little dog, Cooper, was all over me.  We had a nice chat, exchanged greetings, and I returned home with pecan pie and a jar of chicken and dumplings.

For lunch:  more fried chicken, field peas, fried squash, more corn-tomato casserole and cornbread.

My mom's supposedly resting today, but she's spent all morning in the kitchen...refusing my offers of cooking whatever she has in mind for lunch, etc.  Tonight, we'll heat up the chicken and dumplings.

I've finally finished decorating the Christmas tree.  It's just the right festive touch to brighten our holidays, I reckon.

On the potentially bad news front:  I have a very scratchy throat.  It started when I took a calcium table this a.m.   It seemed to have gone down sideways.  I thought it stuck in my throat for a few seconds as I guzzled water to get it down.  Don't know if that's why my throat is now very tender or whether the tablet just irritated an already "infected" site.
