EMPIRE OF THE ANTS - giants bugs AND Joan Collins and shady real estate dealings.  What's NOT to love?

What a coinkydink!  After I went to my bedroom last night, I turned on the TV for a bit and it was on the Nickelodeon channel.  Every night, they show several episodes of "Roseanne" and the episode that just started is when Roseanne's estranged cousin comes to visit and the cousin...believe it or not...was played by Joan Collins!  Her American accent was not very consistent. ;)

I do like cranberries - dried cranberries in salads, and real cranberries at Thanksgiving.

And after making some other phone calls this morning...

Up to 18" of snow in Charlottesville. So far.

Up to 14" of snow in Richmond. So far.

Up to 12" of snow in the DC area. So far.

It's raining a bit in Tumwater. :)

And it's snowing in Manhattan. We are getting ready for our festive holiday party (attending, not giving) and will leave in about a half hour

The music for this clip is "Moonlight #2" from Harvey Schmidt Plays Schmidt & Jones, available from Kritzerland Records. :)

This is a Facebook friend of a Facebook friend of a friend of mine.  I think that BK needs this shirt, too:

Cranberries.  Just because.

Cranberries were indeed a part of tonight's dinner.

Has anyone else tried Ocean Spray's Cran-Raspberry Cranberry Sauce?  It's delicious, and part of our meals here at least twice a week.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Continuing vibes for the vixter! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I just had a tasty hot Italian sandwich and a salad so dinner's out of the way. I'm ready for a night at the theatre with Charlotte. I'm going to pick her up around 6:30 and we'll go down to the St James and go backstage to see what's going on.
I just discovered that I left something hot out of DR MBarnum's Christmas package I mailed this morning. How maladroit. I guess he'll have to come East to pick it up. I wonder if he knows that Tom Wopat is doing the new Sondheim revue? Yes, Virginia, another! Just what the world needs.
DR FJL needs to write a parody of "Too Many Mornings" called "Way Too Much Sondheim"
Ditto on the callback vibes for The Vixter!
As expected, the Christmas party I was going to tonight was cancelled.  Oh, well--I can wrap gifts while watching THE MAN WHO CAME TO DINNER on TCM.
Finished the Ozon movie - not sure what to think about it - it's really odd and there's something going on that I don't think is entirely clear.  Reading various critics, it's VERY clear they don't have a clew.  And hilariously they must have either all been fed the same press materials or before writing their various reviews they must have read other reviews and cadged from them - this is especially true of Stephen Holden's NY Times review of three days ago - he "borrowed " almost the entire review from other reviews, which reveals him to be the critically bankrupt fool he is.  Five reviews said the exact same phrase "it starts out like a Dardenne brothers move" while many reviews used the exact same phrase "magical-realist" complete with hyphen, while several others used the exact same reference to David Lynch, David Cronenberg, etc. while yet three other reviews said the score occasionally had touches of Rosemary's Baby (completely and totally wrong and stupid).
There are only six or so "reviews" on the imdb and only one seems to be on the right track, I think.  It's the only interpretation that sort of makes sense, but little about this movie makes sense, which, I believe, is part of the point.
Until later!
Listening to music now, and then I have several Blu-Rays to choose from, including something called Iron Monkey, the American Godzilla, which I've never seen, The Queen, or something called Easy Virtue, which I know is based on a Noel Coward play, but which I've never heard of (the film).
DR Laura, I decided to take your advice...I didn't work at the office today.  I didn't even clean out the desk.  There is time to do that later. I do have a deadline Monday, but I can get it done on Monday
I did call my friend who invited me to a cookie exchange tomorrow - we do the dough ahead of time and bake the cookies at her house - and said I'd love to go.   I'm going to make Jane's wonderful sour cream cookies.  they were a huge hit at the office (the neighbors, workmen, Edith and I etc) So I'll make the dough in the morning and chill it until time to go.
