Although, I think I may just head back to bed now for another hour or two. Hmm...

Will Santa's elves take care of patio snow removal?

der Brucer

I'm not sure about the patio, but the front sidewalk has already been cleared.  -It's a law in NYC that landlords and business owners must clear the sidewalks 30-60 minutes after the snow stops falling.  It's good being a renter.

*My friends Chris and Jeff - and their 4-year old son - just moved out to a new house in New Jersey.  Alas, they discovered this morning that they probably should have asked for a shovel and a snow blower for house-warming presents. ;)

Good morning!

Bright and cold (but not frigid). It's going to be a beautiful December day. My walk this morning was very enjoyable. I overslept a bit so it was later than usual when I went walking, so there were more cars on the road than usual on Sunday.

For a Tarantino movie, the violence is not outrageously over the top (as in KILL BILL Vol. 1), but as DR Jrand said, it is there, and he doesn't pass up any potential opportunities for violence to show it sometimes artistically and sometimes at its ugliest. But since it's a war-based fantasia, one expects there to be violence.

I am looking forward to a day off and no responsibilities that involve leaving the house. I'll likely watch THE HANGOVER on Blu-ray this afternoon, and this evening, I'll watch RIO RITA (from the Warner Archive) and some Christmas based shows like the three Christmas-based Charlie Brown specials and Stephen Colbert's Christmas special from last season which I reviewed and kept the DVD of.

Of course, I'll have my usual Sunday pursuits to take care of: laundry and cleaning my bathroom later in the day.

Good morning, all! I stayed up until 1 am watching reruns of THE NANNY, which never fails to make me laugh and slept rather well except for two dreams which were a little unsettling: in one, my colleague on the BABES IN TOYLAND project announced that he was quitting and my last dream this morning included a school of music and students and a lot of waiting in a train station or lobby, the second part included a shooting of a student and a lot of deceased relatives: my Aunt Lois, mom, dad, and some very blue kitchen towels I'd purchased from one of the students. There were also several living cousins in the dream as well.

I really like a heavy snow day in Manhattan: the streets are very quiet, as though everythng's gone into hibernation, and then you'll hear the occasional scrape of a shovel against concrete. Holy Trinity Church has a mass this morning but I don't hear anything from the congregation, not even the sound of the organ. I was happy to stay under the blankets and dream as long as I could.

I will shortly head down to Toyland to pick up a book I need, and then I will go to Town Hall for the Men's Chorus concert. I hope the Appalachian Carols go really well today; my dad deserves no less.

DR Der Brucer, I would suggest Woody say nothing unless the kid brings it up. I would guess he's heard enough by now from a grapevine of neighbors, relatives, his mother and the attorney. If he wants to talk about it more, he should be the one to initiate the dialogue. I would guess he's both horrified and embarrassed by his father's behavior.

Seems strange that there won't be anything on TV tonight for me to watch. DEXTER has concluded its season, and BROTHERS & SISTERS is on its seasonal hiatus.

On the other hand, ABC has been repeating CASTLE episodes on Saturday nights, and since I have the show on SeasonPlay, last night's show was recorded, and will likely be watched either while I eat lunch or at some point today.

Miss Dixie Bell thoroughly enjoyed a romp through the snow in the front yard.  We found grass.

WOW!

So, after exchanging a couple of tweets, I've just reconnected with a pianist I met about 20 years ago at the University of Maryland.  We've been commenting on each others tweets the past couple of months, and after he had posted that he had gone to UM, well... I asked him if he played for one of my best friends, and, lo and behold, he did!

It's a small word after all!

Greetings from Toyland!

I've been here around 45 minutes now, and I'll work on two bibliographies while I wait to go to Town Hall for the Men's Chorus concert.

DER BRUCER, I agree with Elmore. I would add that what may mean the most to the son is if Woody just acts like it's a normal day.  Normal conversation, normal joking, normal however they usually act. From my experience of working with people accused of such things and their families, normalcy is often what they crave the most and when no one knows what to say to them, they often feel very isolated.

I had a very bad night.  I woke up with my shoulders in pain (tension type pain) , my stomach in pain and a headache. I finally got back to sleep, but woke up feeling very tired.  I had breakfast then got the chills.   I'm feeling a little better now.  I did make up the cookie dough for the cookie party this afternoon, but I'm not sure if I'm going to feel up to it.

Two loads of laundry done.  Dixie is fast asleep ON MY BED!  This is something new.  She's been on the bed before, but not for extended naps or rest-time; when I'm dressing to take her out on the leash, she jumps onto the bed.  Otherwise, she will lay in my room if I take a nap, but, now she is beginning to think that the bed is hers, too. . .ah, the foibles of a five-year old dog. . .

Back from a three-mile jog and very surprised to see us still on page two because when I left there were six people on this board, four of whom didn't post.  You'd think it was the Sunday before Christmas or something.  Now, get off your butt cheeks and let's get some Christmas spirit around here.

A little early in the day for the Christmas Spirits - although a nice egg nog would taste good right now.
