There is a huge bag of Hannukah gelt on my parents' kitchen table.  I'm wondering if my parents converted.  ??? ::)

Good morning, all!  I want to be out the door by 8:30 beause I have a trip to Rockeo for a haircut. It's about three weeks late and I am looking shabby and shaggy. Once I am at Rockefeller Center, I will stop at the Post Office and mail three packages. The barber appointment is at 9:30. I will follow that with a trip down to Toyland before I head up to the NYPL on another biography search. I shall then return home and wrap gifts for tomorrow's events.

DR elmore - Remember, that since you're part of the production staff for Finian's Rainbow you can get all of your merch at cost - or at least at a sizable discount.  Your company manager should have the forms if the merch people won't sell and pass on the discount to you directly.

DR td - As for "Unusual Way"... Have you ever heard Sumi Jo's version? Sumi Jo is a coloratura soprano, and she released a crossover album of Broadway songs, "Only Love", a couple of years ago.  It's quite an interesting listen. *The album is currently out of print, but the Amazon listing I linked to, still has the audio clips/samples.

bk - I'd keep an eye on your neighbors across the street and make sure that they don't start setting up traffic cones in order to save parking spaces for their guests.

Once again, thanks for the the Travel Vibes.  There was no traffic on the way down, and the staff made sure to put all the Baltimore-bound passengers on another bus before we left NYC.  However, even though we saved some time by not having to stop in Charm City, the driver ended up missing one of the exits off of 95 in Virginia for one of the "family" drop-offs.  -Although, I think I'm the only passenger who was awake and realized that he had turned around for an exit.

And for those DRs who were following news of the kidnapping situation at the post office in Wytheville, VA...

Have any of the new reports stated what toppings he ordered on his pizza?  ::)

Well, I think I'm going to head out for breakfast. I got a craving for some Waffle House scattered and smothered goodness.  But before I go...

Merry Christmas Eve!
Or, as Margo Channing would say: Merry Christmas, Eve.

*I "borrowed" that from a Tweep.

Good morning!   The snow looks absolutely beautiful.  The wind hasn't started yet and the main part of the storm won't arrive until tonight.  As soon as it's really light out, I'll go take some more photos, it's very lovely.

This morning's breakfast:

Scrambled eggs, grits, country ham, whole wheat biscuit toast.  OJ.  Coffee.

Lunch yesterday: Pinto beans, crowder peas, macaroni 'n cheese, turnip greens, pork backbone (very tender), pork chop.  It was all "leftovers" from previous meals, and it was yummy.

Tonight, we're going to cousin Debra's for the annual Christmas Eve supper.  The menu this time is hamburger steak, seven-layer salad and baked potatoes.  I'd have gladly made spaghetti sauce for the event, but I did that last year (IIRC).  And...my Uncle Rock had us all over for a spaghetti dinner last week.

My mom and aunt spent yesterday morning getting ready for, and then going to, a funeral.   Lots of elderly people in this town.  Every Christmas, it seems, one of their friends dies just before Christmas Day.

I used that time and vacuumed the house (about 3,000 sq.ft.).  I also put together some flowers for my dad's grave, took my mom's laundry out of the dryer and folded it, and then I wrapped some gifts for my mom and had them under the tree before she got home.
