I loved "The Young Victoria," and I want to read a biography to become more familiar with the royal secession, why her mother and Sir John Conroy kept her away from court beyond the obvious excuse of making her totally relient on themselves, and the politics during her early reign. Emily Blunt is quite wonderful; I have no idea how old she is but she plays the 17 year-old queen-in-turmoil beautifully. The cast is really quite good - Paul Bettany, Miranda Richardson and Mark Strong are three of my favorites - and the screenplay intelligent and very romantic. The love story of Victoria and Albert is beautifully done, and Rupert Friend, whom I'd never seen before, convinced me he was German. Great scenery and costumes. The use of music is quite witty, like the use of Schubert after Albert tells Victoria he likes Schubert's music, and the use of the waltz after Victoria tells the visiting Albert that she lkes to waltz. It was quite a wonderful film and i want to see it again.
