I like when the whole country sees the show at the same time!  It makes for a good partay here.

For those of you who were watching it live. ::)

I just came back from watching my niece skate. My gosh there were so many people at the rink it was crazy.  She is taking skating lessons. And has gotten pretty good.

roller or ice?

I don't think there is such thing as roller skating lessons.

Yes, there is.

That's not what i meant to write. I meant to write "i don't think there is such thing as roller skating lessons here".  I've never heard of that here. Here if you say you are going skating it is implied that you mean ice skating.  I wasn't even thinking when i wrote my original post that anyone would think i meant any other type of skating.

Dexter, another show I've never seen

Three of the four seasons are available for rental or purchase.

Hmmm perhaps I'll put them in my Netflix queue

Jessica Lange won the Emmy, so I'm glad Drew won the GOlden Globe. Nice for them to split the awards.

What did people think of ricky gervais as host? It was weird that he was hardly on during the second half.

I thought some of his jokes might have crossed the line of good taste (the mel gibson one). IT was funny but wow.

The beginning i think was too sexual and inappropriate to be at 8pm.

I have only seen one nominated film. I am so behind on movie-going.

I've seen "Up" and "Avatar".  I was not a huge fan of "Avatar", I think I'm the only one

No, Druxy didn't like it either.

I was disappointed. I do not think he did a good job.  I doubt he'll be invited back.  They should have just let Conan O'Brien host, and let him rip into NBC for the two hours.

Christolph Waltz....Best Supporting Actor Motion Picture.....well deserved.

I agree, and I think the Oscar for him is also in the bag.

Jeff Bridges

Momentum for the Oscar seems to be building for him, too, and losing buzz are George Clooney and Morgan Freeman.

I will probably be reviewing AVATAR since it's a Fox release when it comes out on Blu-ray, but that is the only way I'll see it.

While this GG party was going on, I was busy working and enjoying some leisure TV.

I began by finishing the bonus features on PARIS, TEXAS. I really did enjoy these.

They actually haven't had a host for more than a decade, and I'm guessing they'll rethink having a host and go without one next year.

After I wrote up the bonus features for the review. I watched the men's figure skating finals. After botching his long program last year and winning the title because of his lead from the short program, Jeremy Abbott truly deserved the title this year. He skated beautifully with lots of pinache and a high degree of difficulty. I hope he can hold it together for the Olympics and then the Worlds. (He fell apart at Worlds last year).

Ryan Bradley clearly had the crowd-pleasing skate of the night (he almost always does), and as he's retiring from amateur competition, I will say I'll miss him. He was just too far down the list from a mediocre short program.

Jonny Weir can't seem to skate a clean long program anymore. Like Sasha Cohen, he can be brilliant in the short program, and then he overthinks the long and makes mistakes. A shame. When he's on, he can be an effortless skater.

Evan Lysechek continued his hard-hitting skating style this year, and it was foolish to add that quad to his program (though they said he was hitting it all morning in practice). Still, he did well enough.

I think the three we'll send to the Olympics are our three strongest skaters at the moment if they can only hold their nerves together and perform. I wish them well.

Next I watched tonight's premiere of HUMAN TARGET. It was an OK first episode. I wasn't blown away by the action-packed story, and the villains were all too obvious. I'm hoping for something better on Wednesday. The previews looked interesting.

And then I ended my evening with tonight's '24' premiere. Two solid hours of good action and some neat twists. Not the most mesmerizing '24' premiere ever, but it certainly held my attention and set up the season more than satisfactorily.

Jeremy Abbott's skating program was a thrill to watch.  He performed flawlessly, and completely deserved the win today.

It's still raining.  Nothing heavy, but I hope it stops long enough for me to put my car away without getting wet.

It's been raining all day, here...and it's still raining.
