DR Jane - that Canadian pair used to be a couple and they were skating about their failed relationship, according to the commentators I heard last night.

One of our dear lurker GUESTS has been reading every entry from the end of 2005 to March of 2006 - reading relentlessly the same threads over and over and over again.  So, I just went and checked out the what people have been searching and then I knew instantly who our lurker GUEST was/is.  Since said GUEST is relentlessly reading all the threads concerning a little thriller we were doing back then, I think you might just be able to figure out who it is.

The record company thriller?
Man or woman?

Precious Gems Fudge, each one is a jewel

Actually, I think I like it better when the slogan is, "each piece is a gem."

But then what do you do with the name?

Diamond Fudge
Jewel Box Fudge
Baubles Fudge....

Hmm,

PARAGON FUDGE

I went over all the cuts with Margaret and then I made two more for a total of another two pages - we're both very happy now, and that whole section has some life to it and breezes right along.

DR Cillaliz, I was just reading your post about how you thought the pairs skaters were much stronger this year.

I agree and disagree. I think many had the potential to be great. But I was very disappointed but how many teams missed their jumps. And i could not believe how team #3 was so out of sync in their turns. Ridiculous.

I thought the performance of the night last night was the chinese team who finished 2nd. I was so moved by them. Perfection!  The team that won was good too. But they missed that lift.

DR Jennifer, I felt that more after the short program than the free.  I agree with you about who skated the best

Darn, I haven't gotten that far.  I was hoping they would win.

DR Jane, there are two Chinese teams...you never know which one she's talking about ;)

They were showing a black couple from France (in the pairs skating last night). They said that she was born in Canada, and then moved to skate in Barbados, then got a citizenship in great britain and now in France.

What do others think of this? I know you  need to find your right partner. And i have no problem with that. Jamie Sale (gold medalist pair skater) seemed to think this was fine. I guess i don't have a problem with it for anything other than the Olympics. But to me for the Olympics you are representing your country. If you have dual citizenship somewhere than fine. But to switch countries four times seems really weird to me.

There was a Japanese skater who was skating for France last night too.

Wasn't the Japanese skater skating for Russia?  What did Jamie Sale say about the team that used the Theme from Love Story as their music?  NBC showed her and she wasn't looking too pleased about it.

TV tidbits:

The CW renews 'Top Model,' 'Vampire Diaries,' 'Supernatural,' 'Gossip Girl,' '90210' which I'm sure will make DR Jennifer happy.

These are early renewals which doesn't mean that SMALLVILLE or MELROSE PLACE are canceled. No decision on them has yet been made.

I am happy re: ANTM and Gossip Girl!

I thought you were a fan of VAMPIRE DIARIES.

I began my evening of viewing with ANDROCLES AND THE LION. I didn't remember much about it, and the mix of British and American talent seemed a little off. Also Androcles wasn't even the most interesting character in his own movie. I would love to have seen what Harpo Marx would have done with the role. (He was originally cast but fired by Howard Hughes.)

It also seemed a lot longer than 98 minutes.

John Hoyt was in this, and I'll swear his biceps were as well developed as Victor Mature's. If you remember, I was blown away by his physique when I reviewed BRUTE FORCE a year or two ago, and he surprised me again in this.

This was by far the best transfer of the three. It's so sharp and clear that the painted backdrops look just like what they are, the rear projection is painfully obvous, the fake lion is easy to tell from the real one (and you can see the guide wire with the real lion), and Robert newton's stunt double looks nothing like him in the arena sequence.

I needed to get the ladies nationals off my DVR, so I recorded the top two women on a DVD-R and erased it. With the Olympics recording until midnight and IDOL being two hours, I needed the space.
