Having just about completed my first week of my new long commute via two trains to Conshohocken, I've also just about finished reading a book that's often mentioned here. Meredith Wilson's BUT HE DOESN'T KNOW THE TERRITORY.  I have enjoyed it, though it does tend to read like one of those books from the 50's and 60's that were meant to do no more than lightly amuse--it's not a theatre student's book.

Hi, DR Jose - we heard yesterday about an audition that combined a monologue about contemplating suicide by jumping off a building with a song that starts, "I'm light on my feet..."  Did you ever see that one?

Good morning, all! Too much madness about recording Victor Herbert last night, and I now have to run to Toyland and go from there to the NYPL. The saga continues!

So, more to follow later . . .

DR JRand59, is that Glinka's opera RUSSLAND AND LUDMILLA you're watching? It has a glorious overture.

CD player: a couple from BK: "Cinderella" and "Best Little Whorehouse Goes Public"

Car CD: "The Girl Who Played With Fire" by Steig Larsson

A bit different image of Botswana today: A hippo pokes his head out of the water to see what's going on. This was taken from a moving boat, so it's slightly blurry.

Didn't Jarre also win an Oscar for A PASSAGE TO INDIA?  I could have sworn he did.

I often like his music very much while at the same time finding it completely inappropriate to whatever film it's in.  I must say that, unlike JR, I dislike GRAND PRIX pretty intensely.  Jarre's son of course became one of the progenitors of ambient New Age music.

Well, of course not.  We all know tsuris is automatically Jose's fault.

Did anyone who ordered "The Man Who Would Be King" do so via the Kritzerland website?  I cannot find a mention of it there.

When I first saw the film, THE MUSIC MAN, I wanted to move to River City because all of the young guys wore skin-tight pants!

I took today off of work, because yesterday I was so angry that I thought I was going to have a stroke.

Ow!

I've been listening to an ootlegbay of a certain creepy and kooky upcoming B'way musical and--oh, boy...

True, this ootlegbay is from November when the show was first previewing and just finding its legs, but--oh, boy...

Post-lunch greetings from Panera!  I've had fun shopping and will soon make my way to one or both of the nearby malls.

-I may be wrong, but I believe the "official" announcement goes live later, sometime after bk posts the pre-announcement here.
