Gee, BK, I think this is the most political I've ever seen you, but I'm still not quite clear where you stand on what all has happened in recent years.

Just another thought on the topic of the day.  People want all the government entitlement programs and services -- medicare, social security police, fireman, strong armed forces, good schools -- but they have to be paid for.  That means taxation.  It cannot happen by just lowering taxes on the rich.  As was proved by eight years of Bush, whose administration I still hold primarily responsible for the mess we are currently in.
Thank you, Charles. I also don't think we want unnecessary wars that cost $1 billion a day.

Lawrence Welk was on in our house every time it aired.  It was something I watched and remember going between liking it and falling asleep

My mother loves Lawrence Welk and still watches the reruns on the local PBS station when they air. I always thought the tempos (tempi?) were too slow, the singing too white bread and the humor too corny. I wanted Bergman angst or at least some real emotion in song, not peppy martinets. But I'm glad for her sake she still gets to see the show on occasion.

As Lucy said to Ricky when she was complaining that they never went to the movies:

"They tell me they talk now and everything!"

That was Debra Messing!

If one gathered all the waste that has gone in this country, one could probably fund programs forever.  And you can start with the 700 BILLION dollars.  And then, you can UP the taxes on every one of the big corporations who have been the ruination of this country for heaven knows how many years.

At times I did not mind Lawrence WelK and there are times he drove me to boredom

Raising taxes on corporations usually results in the cost being past down to the consumers - you can't escape it - it's the nature of capitalism.

Without the big corporations you'd have no gas to fuel the car you wouldn't have; and you'd have no power to run computer you wouldn't have  to post on a nonexistent Internet.

One man's "unnecessary war" is another man's vital effort to support national security.

I just wish that the self employed would quit getting the shaft.   If I had not made my mortgage payments, I could have refinanced my mortgage last year and gotten assistance and a much lower interest rate, but no, I paid on time and had good credit so I had to pay a higher interest rate because I didn't have enough years of tax returns as a sole proprietor to refinance even though I had paid on time for years and years and years.

I was considering hiring another person, but I've changed my mind.  With all the taxes etc it would cost, I just don't want to try it now.

I have not seen AVATAR, but I did just finish watching THE POLICE DOG STORY (1961).

It was just a good as one would expect it to be.

My first stop was the "home base" of Jacques Torres Chocolate in DUMBO (Down Under the Manhattan Bridge Overpass).  I always forget just how small this location is; it's practically the smallest one in terms of retail square footage.  However, the "factory" is next door, so that makes it seems bigger, I guess.

*They were in the process of decorating for Easter. Very festive.

And then I headed down Water Street to the Brooklyn Ice Cream Factory for a scoop of Strawberry Ice Cream.  Needless to say: Yum!  :)

And then it was time to head over to St. Ann's Warehouse for tonight's presentation of A Life in Three Acts starring Bette Bourne with Mark Ravenhill.

It's a very interesting piece of theatre. It's basically a re-enactment and reconstruction - with scripts in hand - of a series of interviews that Mark Ravenhill conducted with Bette Bourne (a.k.a. Peter Bourne).  It covers a lot of ground and a lot of topics, but it does it in a very personal, albeit sometimes haphazard way.  For anyone wanting a very personal view of the Fringe and off-off-Broadway theatre in the 70's and early 80's, coupled with some tales of Gay activism during the same time, this is a good intro.

Next I watched this week's UGLY BETTY. It was a fun episode, some impoprtant events taking place, and guest star Brian Stokes Mitchell reunited with Vanessa Williams. I think it was a one-shot. There didn't appear to be a lengthy story arc developing. Besides, Betty only has about 6 more episodes to go.

I "think" Stokes filmed three episodes.
