And more good news. The UPS man brought the two TOY STORY Blu-rays this morning, so now I have my work schedule in place for the next two days.

I forgot to record SOUTHLAND last night (drat!), so I'll do a search today to see if TNT-HD is showing it again within the next week.

One of my favorite Irish ditties:

Oh, me father's a drunk
And me mother's a drunk
And me sister's a drunk
And me brother's a drunk
And me uncle's a drunk
And me cousin's a drunk
And the rest of them are dead!

Spit take!

Today I'll likely watch some IDOL singers before I start on lunch. While I eat lunch, I'll watch the FAST FORWARD recap from last night.

No new MODERN FAMILY tonight. But there is a new HUMAN TARGET, a fun action show I'm enjoying. UGLY BETTY has a new episode, too.

I don't plan to even record the IDOL results show. I'll just find out who got ousted on the net tomorrow morning.

Question for BK...and/or anybody else who wants to answer:

[No disrespect is intended by this question.  I am just curious.]

There are a lot of good movies out there, and there are even more crappy movies out there.

I know, because I've written a few of the crappy ones.  Yes, I was paid to write them and, my only defense is that, in the vast majority of cases, what I wrote is not what finally wound up on the screen.

So, my question is: Why do we watch these crappy movies when we know, in front (from reviews or having seen it before), that they are crappy movies?

BK watched DADDY'S GONE A HUNTING last night.  He had seen it before.  He knew it was crap.  So, why waste two hours of your life that you will never get back again?

Is it nostalgia?

Maybe it is.  The other night, I watched THE DEADLY MANTIS and THE LAND UNKNOWN, both terrible...but I'd seen them in the theaters when I was a kid.

Like I said, no disrespect intended.  It's just a question for discussion.

We are also having Spring like weather here. It is supposed to be 13C, which is mid-50s. Yeah!

I generally don't watch movies that I know to be crap (I rarely watch movies outside of the DVD, I resent paying $12.75 for, as you put it, crap). Some of my friends say they want mindless entertainment and crappy movies can provide that release but, as you said, why waste two hours of my life doing that.

There are times though when a crappy movie can be great fun (this is very, very rare for me). The example I use is Trog. Last Thursday we went to see it at Chelsea Cinemas (Where Dreams Come True). We all knew/know it was crappy from the start but we sat there and watched and laughed and had a great time reveling in the crappiness of it all. So, on the rare occasion that I succumb to bad movies it is for that kind of reason. Trog, Valley of the Dolls, Showgirls, Mahogany. All bad movies but great fun when you've paid $7.50, had a pre-show by Hedda Lettuce and the audience is in on the crap.

I find there to be comfort in watching the familiar if it's something that appeals to you initially. The quality is almost of secondary importance to its intrensic appeal. I find lots of joy watching crap like MYRA BRECKINRIDGE. I know it's awful, but there's fascination to be had in looking how it was put together and there's fun to be had in exploring the expanse of the frame.

In the case of watching something that didn't appeal to you originally, it's also true that a person's tastes may change over time and that one's life experiences allow him insight he might not have had at a different period of his life. I've certainly had a change of heart about films I didn't initially like. NASHVILLE is the one that comes instantly to mind. And you'll never know if your initial impressions were right for you if you don't revisit the films in question.

I have no idea why people would watch crappy movies. Especially on a beautiful day like today.

Unless you watch it because it's a crappy movie and laugh at it.

Now I'm going to head down and watch some of the IDOL performances from last night. Then I'll start on lunch.

As for last night's "Lost", well...

I may watch it again after reading this morning's NY Times 'Lost' Watch. It certainly cleared up a bunch of "suspicions" and questions for me.  And, yes, for those DRs who have not watched last night's "Lost" yet, that link contains SPOILERS GALORE!

I watch crappy movies because it's nice to see what people are trying to do.  Almost every film has ONE redeeming feature - almost!

I like some of the performers, too.....  It's a comfort to see something you've seen before, a movie that won't challenge you....and of course there is the WHAT WERE THEY THINKING? factor as well.

The blossoms are just starting to peak out on the orange tree in my back yard, and I could detect their sweet scent on the breeze last evening.  Hoo and ray!

Tonight my friend Zachary Spicer is on Law & Order.....but I am not sure which episode it is.

Nine p.m. is a rerun, so it must be the 10 p.m. episode.

I wonder if Dustin remembers my uncle Charlie Keith and calling him for some reason in NYC many years ago.  I answered the phone and didn't have a clue who "Dusty" was until Charlie told me.

Being both Irish and Jewish means, as a family "slogan" goes, we have the Irish temper and the Jewish intellect to back it up.  :)

Today is a late start day at school, so the kids are watching many annoying You Tube videos (but not the one Jose posted last night, LOL).

Today is also the day my Kawai grand gets moved to the new house.  I haven't told Betsy, so when she gets home tonight she will see some unexpected space in the living room.  :)
