Hi Sam, I didn't know the Sportsman's Lodge reopened.  I thought it was closing for good.  I hope your stay there is nice.

MOVING VIBES!!!

Hasn't DR MBarnum stayed at the Sportsman's Lodge?

George - it's hard to tell if you're having any fun in the Brain rehearsals.

Oh...sorry that I haven't indicated that, but we are all having a lot of fun!  Everyone is enjoying being in the show and rehearsals have been great! ;D

DR MattH (or any other DR who knows).

RE: placements at the World Championships (for figure skating).

How does it work re: how many places you get next year?

I think if you have someone in the top 10 you get 2 places. And if you have a 1st or 2nd place finisher you get 3 places. If you have 2 people in the top 10 do you get 3 places? Thanks.

If you have someone in the top ten, you get two places.

If your top two skaters' placements add up to 13 or less, you get three placements for the next season.

It had been a beautiful day, but the clouds have moved in now and it's drizzling off and on.

When I got in from my errands, I cooked lunch and settled down to watch last night's PROJECT RUNWAY. I was rather delighted with who went home - this person really got on my nerves this week with all the babbling - (though truth to tell the 3rd from the bottom with the "sun dress" was really deserving of leaving).

I liked the winner's outfit the best though I also thought the one who was safe had a striking outfit, too.

Then I spent the majority of my afternoon on today's work project - VIVRE SA VIE, un film de Jean-Luc Godard.

Well, it did have a story one could follow at least (not true for all of his films) even with lots of narrative gaps in keeping with the tableaux-motif of the movie. You could certainly tell he was in love with his wife as the camera stays glued to her constantly, and because he's trying not to do traditional two-shots, she was often the focus of the shot while somone off-screen was talking.

Next, I listened to about half an hour of the commentary. The speaker was Australian with a heavy Aussie brogue, but what he had to say was interesting even if his enthusiasm was somewhat higher than mine for the film. I did like it, but I don't think it a masterpiece. It's very cold and resists letting the audience get too involved with the central character.

I watched all of the other bonuses, too, though really only one was specifically about the movie, another celebratory video critique almost 45 minutes long!

There was a 22-minute French TV show about the problem of prostitution in PAris made the year before the film was released.

And several photo galleries of stills from the film and shots from a book about prostitution that Godard based the film on.

I had time to skim through today's AS THE WORLD TURNS. Nothing of interest, and nothing in the previews for next week either.

I ended the afternoon skimming through today's ONE LIFE TO LIVE. Kyle was on, so I watched his scenes. No Oliver today.

TOD:
DVD:  BBC collections of Judi Dench, Maggie Smith, Chekhov and Coward

Larry, I have all these except the Maggie Smith one...all have terrific stuff on them.  Might I recommend Coward's PRESENT LAUGHTER with an hilarious Donald Sinden or ABSOLUTE HELL with Judi Dench.

I watched HIS MAJESTY O'KEEFE w/Burt Lancaster today.

It's an okay movie, but the color registration was off in a few scenes.

Vibage appreciated department:  the young couple who looked at the house yesterday are returning tomorrow with their parents.  And a lady who looked today seemed very, very interested.  I'd love to get an offer this weekend, especially since Betsy's mother has been filling Betsy's head with everything that's wrong with the house and why it will never sell.  ;)

I've been wanting to watch ABSOLUTE HELL; I read the play when I was working at Drama Book Shop. I would like to see THE SEAGULL, if it's on the Chekhov set; I like a lot of THE CHERRY ORCHARD but that idiot woman and her "should I/shouldn't I sell the orchard" drives me mad. After two acts I want to slap her silly.

Back from various and sundried errands and whatnot and some barbecue for lunch.  Had a combo of ribs, shredded chicken, and a hot link.  So bloody filling that I only ate a few bites of the chicken, 2/3s of the link, and all three ribs.

No, it's much more enjoyable to have an offer which I can flaunt in her face.  :)

I'm hopping off-line now to get some writing done, and then I'll head down to have the evening to myself watching some stuff. With GHOST WHISPERER and MEDIUM preempted, I have nothing on TV to watch during the 8-10 time period, so I'll have to watch some of the things on the DVR and more CLOSER episodes.

Gosh, I never realized that Betsy and I were cousins!  Her mother is behaving about your house sale exactly the same way my aunt is behaving about her son's family's upcoming visit from Japan.  They must be the same person.

Vibes that you get that offer this weekend!

Oh...

It appears that Old Man Winter decided to make a return appearance today here in NYC.  It's currently 40 degrees outside, and the wind chills tonight are forecasted to be in the 20s.  Brrrrrrrr!

I've been out most of the day with my mother - taking her to the podiatrist and grocery shopping.  She bought my lunch at Frisch's - a yummy tuna melt!

I was going to put this on my NetFlix queue, except they don't have it.
