Also have new episodes of HUMAN TARGET and MODERN FAMILY to record and watch tonight. CBS is doing reruns again, and NBC does have a new SVU at 10 but everything else appears to be reruns.

Of course, UGLY BETTY will also be recorded, but I won't get to watch it until later in the week.

Well, I'll finish up a few odds and ends in the office and then head downstairs to beging viewing for the day. Wonder if it'll be leisure viewing or work-oriented? Who knows?

Druxy, have you ever seen SUGAR, the musical version of SOME LIKE IT HOT?  It has a St. Valentine's Day Massacre Tap!

Yes, I saw it when they did it at the Dorothy Chandler in Los Angeles.  My late client, Gale Gordon, played the Joe E. Brown part.

I recall that Larry Kert played the Tony Curtis role and, I believe, Nick Condos was George Raft.

Does anybody remember that production?

Did Robert Morse do the Jack Lemmon part?   Also, who did the Monroe character?

I don't know who did the tour but Elaine Joyce did the Broadway production with Robert Morse (Jack Lemmon) and Tony Roberts (Tony Curtis)

I think that Morse and Joyce did it in Los Angeles, too.  Not sure, though.

BK should know.

My first question for ASK BK day - what feature on your new motor car would you now be unable to live without?

Well, I do love the keyless entry and ignition and am now quite used to it.

BK,

The other day you mentioned that Louis Lepke was a major character in the long musical.  So, is this a musical about Murder, Inc. or is that just a subplot?

On a similar subject:

Several years ago, I had the idea of turning my original script of DILLINGER AND CAPONE into a musical.  I had sold it to Roger Corman, who produced the film.  Unfortunately (after his experience with THE LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS),  were unable to negotiate a realistic deal for me to regain the rights, so I dropped the project.

But, one of the numbers I was planning for the show was "The St. Valentine's Day Massacre Polka".

The Lepke gangster stuff is not the main plot of the show - the show is about a young fellow whose dream it is to work as an usher at the Roxy movie palace in NY.  He inadvertently saves Lepke's life and the two begin an unlikely friendship.

It was a wonderful show - especially Gower Champion's terrific staging.

Reminds me of something I wrote once that was based on my encounter with Eddie Cannizarro, who claimed to have shot "Bugsy" Siegel.

I am adding Ann's b-day to the notes, not that she comes around here much these here days.  I probably would have seen it was her b-day last night, but, you know, the phone rang at midnight just as I was writing the second section of the notes and the co-author or the long musical kept me on the phone for twenty minutes - after that I wasn't thinking about anything but bed.

Well, if they did anything to the street I see no evidence - none, that is, except for removing the no parking signs that have been there for a week.  So, I guess I could have parked in the garage after all.
