In all, a successful day. I've worked on all my various and sundry projects.

A friend who's a Sousa authority wants me to work with him on a restoration of Sousa's wonderful operetta, EL CAPITAN. The last one, which was recorded, was done by a couple of dubious scholars who believe that, because Sousa is known for his brass band, the delicate scoring of the operettas should be boosted with additional trombones, trumpets and horns to beef up the sound. You'd have to be a Wagnerian singer or hog caller to be heard over that welter, not a pretty young soprano or comedian.

I also got a Facebook friend request from a cousin I have not seen in over 40 years. I am conflicted because her mother, my father's stepsister, treated my father very badly following her father's (his stepfather's) death. In fact, when my dad died, his stepsister who never accepted his peace offerings did nothing. As to accepting my cousin Holly as a friend, I am not certain what to do.

I have become addicted to the series BONES in reruns on TNT. I think I will watch some of Season One on DVD tonight.

DR Elmore - re your cousin. My sister and I had, for a different reason, a similar quandary last year. We both eventually accepted the request because life is short and cousins (for us, anyway) are scarce.

DR Ginny, thanks for your advice. My problem is, outside of a very few cousins who remain close and my brother Randy, I prefer my nuclear family to the real McCoy. I want to tell her I think her's mother's a pig and worse, so I probably need to calm down before I do anything. His stepsister's ugly behavior really hurt my dad and I wouldn't stop to pee on her if she were burning.

Dad had Ernestine and i've got the Macbeths. Hmmm . . .

When I sold Mom's house, I left the new owner a short history of the house. I wonder if he left it for the next guy when he sold it?

My house was bought and sold so many times before we moved in. The neighbors said that no one ever stayed more than a couple of years at a time.

Awesome movie on TCM right now.

Saw it a couple of times on a drive in double bill with UP THE DOWN STAIRCASE.....loved both movies....went back 3 nights in a row to see them both.
