Did anyone else have a WTF moment last night during the previews for next week's LOST when they played that weird distorted soundclip from WILLY WONKA?

:o I haven't watched it yet.

DR Jane, I do have another book pick for you, it's THE PHYSICK BOOK OF DELIVERANCE DANE and it is quite a novel.  I  have been recommending, and selling, it for the past week at Borders as my personal pick.  (I'm also pushing DEVIL IN THE WHITE CITY).

Jane - We have a few returns to do which were given by the IRS rules until May 11 under the Presidential disaster area relief for the flood disasters in New Jersey.

But other than those few (some of them are big returns, though), if it wasn't out today, it pretty much went on extension.

Does your Lucy movie set contain this?

Hysterical, as is their Judy & Liza commercial.

Jennifer, a friend at book group yesterday told me she returned from a trip with a copy of THE GIRL WHO KICKED THE HORNET'S NEST.  Guess what I get to read once she is done!!!! :D

Is this the third of the Millennium trilogy? After "Dragon Tattoo" and "Girl Who Played with Fire"?

DNR and edge enhancement are digital tools to remove noise and excess grain from the image and edge enhancement is sometimes use to artificially sharpen the image.  While some transfers have used both to excess, the phrases have become so abused and overused by everyone reviewing these things, and half the time what they're blaming on these things is the way the film actually looks.

I just looked it up.  It looks interesting, especially after reading about the author's family tree.

Well, I'm going home...actually, to my sister's, then home...then some TV watching, including (but not limited to) last night's "Lost!"

Until later!

Last week I was recommending it after reading the back cover. . .
This week I am recommending it from a far better perspective, having now read the book.

JMK, I read his update and I read the message board.  I'm sorry but - just where did he view this theatrical print last night.  Since the film isn't playing anywhere, did he view it at someone's house - on what sort of projector, what kind of bulb or light source, what sort of screen.  And a 35mm release prints is a very different beast than a blu-ray transfer.  I see no evidence of what he calls "smearing" and I see no problems in the sky of the snow scenes, and I was watching for them.  Let him post screencaps that are direct unmanipulated caps of a shot right from the blu-ray in hi-def and let him point these things out - he won't be able to.  I am glad he begrudgingly upped his score and lowered his criticisms, but his nitpicking certain shots that may last for seconds is, for me, silly.

I'll think about this one.  It looks good, funny thing is as much as I read fiction like this, not sure I want to read non fiction.  I'll put it on my to read list & keep it in mind.

Thanks for the suggestions.  Did you read THE HELP?

I think I'll go to Gelson's and get some fruit, then put the motor car in the garage.  Don't think I'll have time for a motion picture tonight, so I'll watch last night's Lost.

This is sort of interesting...and awkward:

 :-[

I've been congratulated for my screenplay of ONCE UPON A TIME IN HOLLYWOOD being a finalist in the upcoming California Independent Film Festival.

 ;D

The problem is that this is not my screenplay, nor is it an adaptation of my book.

 :(

This is a totally different work with the same name as my book, written by some fellow in Indiana.

EVIL KURT has not responded to my emails for a couple of days, so it might be dinner at the hotel, MR BK.  They do have a nice restaurant....and no parking problems.

I have THE HELP on my "To Read" list, though I understand that the listening experience of its audiobook is a better experience.

Erik Larson's DEVIL IN THE WHITE CITY reads like fiction, don't discount it just yet.  His THUNDERSTRUCK is also a fine read, though not as memorable as DEVIL.

And don't forget to thank the higher being for deciding your winning this award was more worthy of attention than the four other nominees and starvation around the world.

I can believe that, if you can understand the dialect.
