Thanks for the tips re: sore backs.
DR Jeanne will the homeopathic arnica really help? It's a recurring lower back thing. I have a health food store like 5 minutes away.
Also DR Jane, i do have a heating pad although not one you can soak with water. I wonder if i should use it more. I feel like there is a spot on my left lower back that is constantly inflammed.
Jennifer, I have had success with both Arnica and Triflora gel, although I think the pellets (tiny pills) are more effective. Because your pain and stiffness is better with movement (ie, riding your bike), RHUS TOX may be a good choice. It's known as the rusty gate remedy.
In Chinese medicine, it would be said that you are suffering from stagnant
chi, ie, stagnant energy. The Chinese are big believers in movement, especially gentle exercise, such as Tai Chi. Tai Chi might actually be a good choice for you. Yoga or Western-style back stretches, such as pelvic tilts, might also help.
I highly recommend Bob Anderson's book, which is simply titled, STRETCHING. It's a classic that many of us, including some top personal trainers, have used for a great many years. It's easy to understand and is hard to beat.
