The State Theatre, which BK was very interested in. I think DR George said it was built as a movie theatre in 1948.

More beautiful downtown architecture.

Some of downtown Olympia reminds me of downtown Medford, Oregon. Sadly, downtown Medford is pretty much a ghost town now, but when I was a kid it was the area to shop and dine.

Thank you for the tour of Olympia, DR MBarnum!  Looks like a place I'd like!

Playbill.com is confirming the rumor that David Cromer will direct YANK! on Broadway.  (not Igor Goldin, who directed it at the York)

Based on BK having gotten ill from dinner, perhaps it was better for me that I didn't get that aisle seat on that plane to Seattle on Friday.

I forget what this lake was called, but it was very pretty and quite the popular place to jog.

Another shot of the capitol from the lake. Maybe it was called Capitol Lake?

If I lived in Olympia, I would live in these apartments.

If you lived in Olympia, it would be at the YMCA nearest the retirement home.

And Freddy in my tree in the backyard, which has nothing whatsoever to do with my trip to Olympia.

Sadly, the wonderful, sunny weather we had has now been replaced by overcast sky and sprinkles of rain.

DR Elmore,

Jack Wrangler comes across as such a nice, funny guy in that documentary I watched. I think I would have liked him a lot. I had forgotten how involved he was in Broadway in later years and it was interesting to find out more about his relationship with Margaret Whitting.

I think I may need to find a few of his movies on DVD.

The Capitol Theatre

This marquee was renovated/restored/replaced just last year.

The very first theater that I ever did was Man of La Mancha, at the Capitol Theater in 1989.  The group was then called Capitol Playhouse '24, but now they're called Capital Playhouse and they have their own theater.  Jeff Kingsbury was and still is the managing director.

DR MBarnum, thank you for the charming tour of Olympia.  The only spot missing is DR George's library.  I've been told the hippies are still in Ashland.

I returned home from a hike with Sherlock totally drenched.  My clothes are hanging up to dry & I have had oatmeal to warm me.  The oatmeal didn't work.  I'm going to take a nice long hot shower.

Finally got everything shipped, including a few more book orders.  So, that's a load off.  I'm feeling better than yesterday - and I think I may try to have a poached egg and toast in about an hour.  Then again, maybe not.

I work several miles south, in Tumwater, so it really isn't anywhere near where Mike was.
