tomorrow, I go to the dentist for my semi-annual check-up.

We were supposed to get our teeth cleaned today only Keith's appointment was canceled.  I then canceled mine as it was too far for me to drive one armed.  I wish I had known sooner & made an appointment for PT.  I can only go once this week as my therapist was not available today.

Just finished watching CAPTIVE CITY (1952). Wow, what a good movie...I was in suspenders the whole time!

DR Druxy, I recorded it to DVDr for you and will get it in the mail this week. I don't know why, but whenever I record a movie from MGM HD onto a dvdr the picture is always smaller then normal. I hate that.

Thanks.  Looking forward to seeing it again, after about 50 years.

Small?

I do have a magnifying glass.

Oy, what a day!  Busy, busy, busy, including placing a CL ad for free shtuff we wanted out of here.  Suffice it to say, it's gone.  :)

Spent the afternoon comparing the Criterion SPARTACUS to the new Blu.  Review should be live tomorrow.

Found out, by way of research, that a certain famous film restorer is a major Frances Farmer fan!  Love when that happens!

Never saw Lena Horne perform live, but I had a theater history prof in college who thought Barbra owed a lot of her style to imitating LH.  Loss of another legend.

The young lady who was awarded our AAUW scholarship tonight came over to me at the end of the evening to introduce herself.  She was a 4th grader in Richard's gifted math/science class the year he retired.  She's going to Miami University to major in math education.  He was pleased to hear that.

Us too.  We can see snow on the mountains.  I'm glad I kept the flannel sheets on the bed.

I must be feeling better because I'm actually really hungry.  I may rustle up some more white rice, or get something really mild at Gelson's.  Any suggestions?

DR Mike, I certainly enjoyed your photogenic tour of Olympia.  The city has fascinated me because of the cheap, bad movies I've rented from Netflix, quite a few of them featuring Michael Haboush. . .

Bruce, since the rice and eggs worked at lunch I suggest staying with that.  Can you make it at home without going out?

I had to drop off line several hours ago because the DSL just would not keep a connection. Seems to be working fine now.

This morning before lunch, I had time to watch THE OFFICE. It was one of the funniest episodes of the season. I really laughed out loud for most of the show.

I also had time to watch BROTHERS & SISTERS. Loved Scotty's Irish song at the end of the show, very emotional and beautifully and simply sung. The rest of the show was a lot of hand-wringing and melodrama that was somewhat tiresome.

When I got in from lunch, I watched THE EDGE. I had forgotten that it had a Jerry Goldsmith score. Blu-ray looked fine (great sound), but it was obvious this was meant to be an early Blu-ray release from Fox that got pushed back several years. They were using the MPEG-2 codec to compress the data on the disc, a codec Fox hasn't used since their earliest releases. And there was only a theatrical trailer on the disc for bonus features. Another movie promo on the disc was the Blu-ray of the remake of FLIGHT OF THE PHOENIX, one of Fox's earliest Blu-ray releases.

Next I skimmed through today's AS THE WORLD TURNS. Nothing of interest and nothing in the previews.

When I went back down, I began watching documentaries on the making of more Hitchcock movies. I began with ROPE. Then I watched REAR WINDOW. And I finished with STAGE FRIGHT.
