Good Evening!
And... I'm back from Carnegie Hall.
I had almost forgotten earlier that my friend, Tom, had an extra ticket tonight to tonight presentation of Mendelssohn's "Paulus" by the Oratorio Society of New York. So, I hopped on the D Train, detrained at 53rd & 7th, and walked up to the Hall.
It was a very good concert. I had forgotten(?) just how substantial "Paulus" is - the first half was about an hour and fifteen minutes, and the second half ran just about an hour. Good soloists, good chorus, good orchestra, and a nice interpretation by their conductor. Alas, during the tenor's final solo, the cello
obligatto-ist seemed to be having some intonation issues. But at least he projected.
